Even though they're relatively innocuous, of all dumb religious ideas, religious dietary restrictions (of the hyper-specific "don't eat fish without scales" variety) annoy me disproportionately for how arbitrary they are.

I watched a few of the other episodes. They're not bad. They might be better than this one? But the episodes rely on schtick that's somewhat repeated- word for word even.

Yeah this one didn't quite hit the nail on the head or something- not just that it was cowardly, but it probably could have found the Right Thing, as you say.

For my money, I'm going with Katering- their schtick is way better and it's really packed into each episode.

Sure, my point was just that they're attempting to mock a tiny subset based on something the whole group (yes I know plenty of them don't care about eating halal) does regularly, which defeats the point of mocking the tiny subset. It lends itself to "ALL MOOSLIMS ARE TERRIBLE!!!!" rather than "ISIS IS TERRIBLE LOOK HOW FUNNY THEY EAT!!!!"
Unless this is some kind of anti-religion somethingorother, in which case I look forward to rolling my eyes at briss-blood pudding or something stupid like that, but I'm not interested enough to keep watching.
