I was always surprised at how respectful the first one is, all things considered. The later ones are pure exploitation but the first one seems like a sincere attempt at a character driven action film, and for what it is and when it was made I thought the treatment of Rambo as a character is actually pretty well developed and sympathetic.

Rambo 4 was a refreshing bloodbath of a movie in the midst of the pg13ification of franchises like die hard, terminator and stuff tho.

It was pretty laughable as a movie, but in a way that was fun. 1 and 3 are the ones, 1 for being an actually good movie and 3 because he teams up with the Taliban.

Haha oh yeah I forgot about the Taliban. I don't think I've seen that movie since before Sept 11th and the Taliban were kind of the Ewoks to Americans vs. the Red Menace. I wonder if the TV versions edit all that stuff out, or if they even show it on American television at all anymore.
