I get them mixed up all the time.

It's probably because I was pretty young, but I remember deaths like Jerry Garcia and Kurt Cobain (obviously) a lot more than I remember much of anything said about Zappa, like the news talked about him like a novelty act and nothing more, and very little was done to anthologize his work; I think his final album was basically never released because it was mail-only at the time and then he died. I was never super into Zappa, but I blame a lot of that on the fact that he was so inaccessible before the days of the internet, at least for a kid like me shopping at Tower Records. In either case I've got hundreds of hours of music to catch up on.
