Void 71 - 2015-06-26 The link isn't working for me, but the argument I would have made is that hip hop is the soundtrack to the sort of ruthless capitalist greed that turned human misery into a thriving business. It would have been a bit of a shaky argument, but it's impossible to deny hip hop's deep-rooted celebration of materialism, which makes it very compatible with the 'free-market' fetishism that right wingers like Hannity engage in.

I think the swastika flag should be illegal here. It's illegal in Germany. Am I alone in this? I don't normally think anything should be illegal if it doesn't hurt anyone, but I push for this because it is the ultimate symbol of what our country had to fight against, of our greatest enemy in all history, and technically it can be equated with treason.
Mainly I just want to piss off Neo Nazis, though. Fuck them. Fuck the Confederate flag. Fuck the swastika, they mean the same thing.

Germany has more white supremacists than a Ted Nugent concert (they are a tiny ass country with as many mighty whitey groups as America, like it's some kind of competition), if they still had flags it would be easier for others to protect themselves. Fascists who can operate without symbols are a horrific thought, because it isn't 'Merican.
That and Americans love burning flags we don't like, why take away the most fun ones to burn? Seriously, burn a swastika, it's cathartic. Also, capture the flag is more fun when it's a flag the other side is attached to for dumb reasons. Also, desecration of flags. So much great shit can be done with other peoples' bigot flags. Man, I want to go burn some flags now... My point is, humans are programmed by rhetoric in a unique way completely outside the animal kingdom. You can destroy a national identity by destroying its flags in front of it and we need that sweet seductive power, because nnnnnngggggg.

15th - 2015-06-26 I'm not really into Star Trek, so I don't get the reference, but that's a great point. Burning a Swastika has to be wonderful - I gotta try it. Let assholes have their symbols, it can be their yellow star.
