There are a couple ergonomic advantages, especially compared to rubber-dome keyswitches, although a lot of the buckling-spring fetishism is just misplaced nostalgia.

The big reasons are that they have more rebound force and they actuate without bottoming out, so you don't have to push as hard and it reduces strain on your fingers, especially if you're a fast/heavy typist.

There are pretty good rubber-dome keyswitches out there too, though, like the ones that Kinesis uses, although most rubber-dome key switches are absolutely horrible.

Well, if you want a recommendation, I like the Filco Tenkeyless line. They're a bit expensive but they're worth it. WASD are similar (some claim they're better but I don't buy it) and also let you customize your color scheme if you're into that.

I like Cherry Blue switches the best for the feel, but they're ridiculously loud. Cherry Brown switches are way quieter but don't feel as good IMO.

Or if you want to go all-out, find a keyboard based on Matias Quiet Click switches - they have the feel of Cherry Blue, are quieter than Cherry Brown, and the price tag of a luxury vehicle. (Well, not really THAT bad - for a pack of 90. I'm thinking of upgrading one of my Filcos with them now. Hm.)
