Yeah.. I mentioned recently about how the busdriver showed The Ringer on the bus for the Special Olympics Ski Team that I was chaperoning a few years ago.. it got public outcry but then they were like "oh it's OK because everybody else is actually intellectually disabled and now they get to be in MOVIES!"
I fucking hate that condescending attitude. The choir I work with is run by devoted individuals who may not have a disability, but the rival one is doing their own musical featuring only a few of the students and the rest are professional musicians and actors on stage. So yay for the few with high functioning autism but FUCK YOU DOWN SYNDROME BUY A TICKET! I dunno, sorry didn't mean to get my panties in a bunch there, but I really hate that shit.
As far as this movie goes, meh. My ex girlfriend's dad thought it was the best movie ever. That "ex" is there for a reason probably. I'll probably never see it.
Waiting on the Bus for My Sister was pretty much Rosie O'Donnell at her best, which is to say finding people that are actually willing to sit through her talking.
Maybe the way around it should always be high-concept stuff like this.
"NO, you don't get it! He's not a 'tard, he's a clone of a clone! It's totally different!"
