Oscar Wildcat - 2015-07-26

That much was true.

infinite zest - 2015-07-26

Well I learned something today! I always thought this song was New Order! But I'm still confused as to her employment at the time..

Needtodestroy - 2015-07-27

Didn't you say you were a DJ?

spikestoyiu - 2015-07-27

How could anyone with ears think this was New Order? C'mon, son.

1394 - 2015-07-27

Turn in your badge and gun, you're off the cool police.

infinite zest - 2015-07-27

Poop. Well fuck the cool police! I swear this was on some New Order compilation I torrented back in college. Many mixtapes were mislabled. But I'm not a DJ "DJ".. I do DJ events for small arts organizations but that's about it. And I'm a "bouncer" meaning I take money at the door for shows when I need extra work, but yeah I seriously thought this was New Order!

Well you can take your cool badge and sit on it potsie, I'll make myself a Cooler Badge! The kind that changes colors and things.

infinite zest - 2015-07-27

Oh shit I figured it out, it was Future Bible Heroes I think, but consider this a cold case.

Scrimmjob - 2015-07-26

This is great!

StanleyPain - 2015-07-26

I could almost swear this was Neil Cicierega, isn't it?

Needtodestroy - 2015-07-27

No it is not.

StanleyPain - 2015-07-27

That's really weird..I could swear I heard a track he made somewhere a long time ago that was this song with a similar gimmick. But I love this anyway. I assume you made it?

kingarthur - 2015-07-26

High school me got DARE out of the dollar vinyl bin (it was the 90s) at the used record store and transferred that baby to cassette and loved it to this day.

Boomer The Dog - 2015-07-27

I paid full price for mine when it came out. Loved that album, it was one of the first I bought at a real record store at regular record prices. I was turned on by the Midi sound in full force on all the tracks, a breakthrough for a pop album at the time.

I also got into Yaz (Yazoo) Upstairs At Eric's, Associates, Soft Cell and others I associate with that time.

EvilHomer - 2015-07-27

Hey Boomer, did you see my last reply on the Air Bud video? You were barking about wanting to find a good cane sugar birch beer.

Boomer The Dog - 2015-07-27

I did see it Homer, about the local soda near where you live, looked on the site and saw how they deliver. Sidetracked by the weekend, and hadn't looked in here as much.

EvilHomer - 2015-07-28

Cool! There was a picnic at work today; just picked up a bottle of Foxon Birch myself. Not sure if it's the exact flavor you're looking for , but if you ever see it for sale around you, try it out!

deadpan - 2015-07-26

Wait, where was she working?

Needtodestroy - 2015-07-27

A JiffyLube.

infinite zest - 2015-07-27

She worked in the factory that makes cocktail bars.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2015-07-26

I was laughing at a remix telling me that she was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar.

It's preposition rock!

Needtodestroy - 2015-07-27

infinite zest - 2015-07-27

You were starring your submission on a video site.. :)

That guy - 2015-07-28

I will do my duty to 1-star self-starrers.

infinite zest - 2015-07-28

I don't give a shit, it just fits in with the song. I don't mind. I accidentally do it but if you want to go for it! I'm sure restaurants yelp themselves and that doesn't mean the food sucks.

baleen - 2015-07-27

This is how I sing songs when I know one line.

Needtodestroy - 2015-07-27

That much is true.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-07-27

Their worst song...and the one that seemed to get the most play.

Boomer The Dog - 2015-07-27

The most pop and overplayed. I was into Love Action a lot and played that one more.

spikestoyiu - 2015-07-27

"Human" is definitely worse

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-07-27

oh yeah, Human is DEFINITELY worse. Just awful.

memedumpster - 2015-07-27

Jet Bin Fever still lives!

Five stars.

Boomer The Dog - 2015-07-27

I forgot about 'Human', but I used to play it on the radio since I had a good quality copy. Why did all of those New Romantics period bands go to soft A/C music?

Phil Collins, Billy Ocean, and look at what happened to Spandau Ballet! True, Spandau probably had their biggest hit with True, and I guess Gold came before that, but they had much harder songs like The Freeze and Communication.

I think Communication is a solidly crafted pop song, and that would be on my new romantics playlist, along with 18 Carat Love Affair by Associates, and Change by Tears For Fears.

Ghoul - 2015-07-27

I'm going to karaoke this version at a cocktail bar. A cocktail bar.

ebola - 2015-07-28

Holy crap I didn't know POE-TV still existed! I feel like I'm home. So POE-NEWS is totally gone? It's been 5 years but I recognize some of you! I'm gonna weep now. Love you guys!

ebola - 2015-07-28

Binro! Baleen! StanleyPain! Holy crap! Are Xiphias and Rishi still here? What year is it? How did I remember my password? I'm so happy!

Billy the Poet - 2015-07-28

Everyone clever left and the rest uf us basically just became morlocks.

memedumpster - 2015-07-28

Billy is correct, you can never go home again. However, there is another...

ebola - 2015-07-29

YAY! Hi guys and gals!

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2015-07-31

Better than the ragtime version, but only just.

Jaguar Wong - 2015-11-28

The video is gone, but the song is still available here:
https://svantana.bandcamp.com/track/you-were-workin-as-a-waitr ess-in-a-cocktail-bar

casualcollapse - 2020-06-14

Hell yeah

exy - 2020-07-26

I for one have been working as a waitress in a cocktail bar for years

Hazelnut - 2020-10-25

5 years later it's up to 600,000 views, so that's something.
