Two Jar Slave - 2015-09-19
Can someone who's been following SFV explain how it advances on SFIV? As someone who played (and lost) about a hundred online matches, this looks about the same. But I'm sure "real" players are outraged/ecstatic about subtle alterations to the block priority or something.

SolRo - 2015-09-19 "something something meta something something" (eyes glaze over)
SolRo - 2015-09-19 Jesus Christ don't those people realize their blather is less interesting than an engineer talking about revisions to a pipe flange design?
Xenocide - 2015-09-19 The Punchings Per Cycle (PPC) are higher than in previous games, resulting in increased fun levels. I have a chart that explains this. Also Ryu grew a beard.
roofle - 2015-09-19 SF4 is a clunky mess and it's going to be 8 years old when this one comes out. Focus was a horrible mechanic and made stringing together combos not fun. That's all there is to it really.
Also I never in a million years thought I'd see Karin and R.Mika back in another SF game.
Aelric - 2015-09-19 Well, you see, fighting games sell on name recognition, and there were already too many versions and add-on attached to Street Fighter IV, so they figured, as they do every decade or two, to finally move the number up by one, making people think that it'll be a bigger than average advance in mechanics, when really these games are pretty much the same or worse since SF2, at least according to the fighting game people I know (who consequently also freak me the fuck out with their intensity about it all)
EvilHomer - 2015-09-20 Karin and R Mika are hugely popular in the doujinshi scene; it was inevitable they would return.
Frankly, though, I don't see the point in even having a mainline Street Fighter series when you've got MvC and the rest of the Something Vs Somethings. I did not like SFIV very much at all, but on account of Karin and R Mika, I might still give V a shot... IF they bring Sakura back!
Still no news on Sakura, right?
EvilHomer - 2015-09-20 Guile's OK, but he's a bit too stoic and taciturn for his own good. The best American is Ken; he's quick and flashy and supremely confident in his abilities, much like a certain pegasus we all know.
Wander - 2015-09-20 There are four more launch characters not revealed, two new ones and two returning from the original game, so Sakura probably won't be there on launch, but Blanka could be. Guile probably won't, since Nash is in, and they play similar. They'll all eventually be added though, I'm sure, since the whole point of doing the game the way they are is that they can gradually filter in characters as they make them.
Also they can't make Marvel vs. Capcom anymore, Disney pulled the Marvel licence once they bought Marvel, since Disney does their own shit with their properties. Capcom aren't even allowed to sell their already existing versions of the game anymore, so don't expect to see more of that in the future. Ideally, they've got some future "capcom vs. something" coming up, but the last few that weren't marvel did not do well, so it might not happen.
Cena_mark - 2015-09-20 They should make Capcom vs WWE.
The Mothership - 2015-09-19
So where's Blanka in this one?
roofle - 2015-09-19 Blanka is the game director's favorite character, he's going to be put in eventually.
EvilHomer - 2015-09-20 Scorpion is from Mortal Kombat, but the two games were fierce rivals and close competitors in the US market, so your confusion is understandable.
Fans have long wished to see Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter, but sadly, I do not believe that will ever happen, particularly now that Mortal Kombat is part of the DC Comics universe. Capcom is partnered with Marvel, so seeing Scorpion in SFV is about as likely as seeing Batman in the next Avengers movie.
On the other hand, if and when this game gets released on PC, there will be community-made costume packs, and these costume packs will inevitably include Scorpion cosplay It's not QUITE the same thing, but it's close enough!

EvilHomer - 2015-09-20 Here is an example of a cosplay mod from Street Fighter IV:

Love it. Meanwhile Capcom needs to pull its head out of its ass, pay Arika whatever it takes, and get Skullomania into this goddamned game.
dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-09-21 Have any of the EX series characters ever made it into non-EX games?
I really liked playing as Pullum Purna in Street Fighter EX Plus A and wish they'd use her again. For some reason her fighting style and the way she controls really clicked with me, and there's virtually no one in the other games that quite mimics her.

Nikon - 2015-09-20
I'm glad to see her again but I hate the new character design. And when it comes to mechanics I want them to bring back Alpha Counters and Third Strike Parries.
Wander - 2015-09-20 Alpha counters are back, they're called v-reversals now to go with the "v" theme. Parries are back if you play ryu, everyone has a new unique defensive ability called V-skill, his is parry, a few other characters have similar v-skills.
Sanest Man Alive - 2015-09-22 I like Karin's new look, it compliments her "aristocratic bitch" personality. It also reminds me of something out of Sakura Taisen.
theSnake - 2015-09-20
The character animations are so good, does anyone have any insight on how they do it? They don't look realistic per se but they look like they're hyper-alive. Its just gotta be hand done by an expert, must take forever

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-09-20
Princess laugh.

oddeye - 2015-09-20
Did Prince of Persia yell "Bugger!" when he got boned?
Also, where were the sweaty gussests and stuff?
dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-09-21 It sounds like he's screaming "BAQARAH!" to me. Which means "cow" in Arabic.
Knowing Street Fighter, and Japanese video game developers when dealing with cultures other than their own in video games, it wouldn't surprise me at all to know that's exactly what the developers made him say.
