I'm glad I had friends down in Green Point a decade ago so I got to see a little bit of the last days of Brooklyn being not horrible.

I feel sorry for the people who can't escape, even in 2005, which is about when the last person I know left, Williamsburg was already pretty overrun with the worst kind of people. Which sucks, because there are a lot of things about Brooklyn that I really liked. Hell, I almost moved there in 2003. I feel like a dodged a bullet.

There's also the post 9/11 surveillance state business, that's no good either.

Get ready because Harlem is next.

baleen - 2015-09-25

I was given 30 days to vacate my apartment in greenpoint.
Everybody's shit was just thrown on the street.

And this guy was born on West 4th street. He really did "settle" this neighborhood for this couple of shits.

Here's the scoop:

The man, who didn't want his name to be used for fear of losing clients, agreed to pose for this picture for the article...

and yes holy fuck is Wililamsburg full of the worst people. Anyone who says hipsters don't exist need only walk down Bedford Ave for two minutes. Soulless middle aged yuppies trapped in 20 something bodies, all play acting that they're progressive artists.

That guy - 2015-09-25

Cokeboss' story could be 100% true: the couple could have run into him just as he described, left the gash as pictured, and be exactly the awful yuppies that people complain about- and he's still a piece of shit.

He's the guy who wants to get into a fight over whether you picked up your dogshit, all the time, everywhere, times 100 issues.

Plus blaming the individuals for gentrification is dumb as fuck.

NYC.

One of my friends who lived in Green Point around 2004 used to have to cross right through the heart (at the time) of hip-Williamsburg to get to the subway on his way to and from work and he told me he actually ran because he was so disgusted by the experience.

I haven't bothered to go to New York in a few years but last time I went I ended up at a bunch of Williamsburg literary scene parties and bars and it was easily one of the grossest displays of unwarranted self importance I've ever seen in my life (even taking into account the fact that some of the people there were Kind Of a Big Deal).

The thing about the cultural establishment in the big coastal cities in general and the Northeastern ones in particular is they're convinced that they're 5 years ahead of the rest of the country when in reality they're almost always a decade behind.

That guy - 2015-10-02

That, I believe.

That guy - 2015-09-24

great piece of police work there.....

Binro the Heretic - 2015-09-24

It was an excellent piece of police work. He didn't allow the situation to escalate nor did he escalate it himself. He let it resolve without threatening violence or arrest.

I wish more police worked like this.

Void 71 - 2015-09-24

He didn't need to do anything. Just like the beautiful ones from John Calhoun's mouse utopia experiments, these well-groomed gentleman would have gone back to stuffing food pellets into their mouths after this brief outburst. They might even have ended up buttfucking each other.

baleen - 2015-09-25

It wasn't a police guy, it was a security guard who was just trying to help.

That guy - 2015-09-25

looks like you might be right
kinda hard to tell

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-09-26

Guy did a great job if you ask me. No one got bodyslammed or tazed.

Old_Zircon - 2015-10-02

Is Williamsboard still a thing? I just checked, and you can no longer ever view the front page without logging in, all I got was some ironic "palm trees with animated snow" background and this:

pgBoard v2.9.5

Most of the people in SF either hate themselves or are trying super hard to hate themselves, because, fuck man they are really on the corner of being Alaska. And fuck, if you are thinking about how you are a few hours from Alaska, you are pretty much thinking how you are a few steps from it all. And if you consider the music I mean fuck SF is the place where the youth go to die.

Williamsboard was a good place to troll, although I never really cared enough about trolling to actually participated and just watched other people do it on there. The actual WB natives were really easy to troll and really bad at trolling and dealing with trolls.

SixDigitDebt - 2015-09-24

White privilege is when you're running your mouth like that and the black cop doesn't tazer you. Or mistake his 9mm for a tazer. Or pepper spray tazer you. Or riot shield 9mm tear gas pepper taze you. Or tazer taze taze taze Anne Coulter tazer you.

Nominal - 2015-09-25

Can I trade being Ann Coultered for a 6th taze?

VaultDweller13 - 2015-10-01

right on.
