I used to like hanging out in Pioneer Square and watching the shit-talking chess players. It was kind of like joining an online video game in that way, when I could actually get a table: it could be your best friend or a person you'll never see again, but in that moment it doesn't matter.

Speaking of Pioneer Square, maybe I asked you this before Mothershit but do you remember The Chess Show that was on cable access here in Portland back in the 90s? The one with the giant Macintosh Chess bluescreen where you'd call in from the east side and the west side (for black and white pieces respectively) of the river with the really excitable hosts who rarely finished more than one game per show? This made me think of it and how I miss good public access, but also how watching so much of it was probably why I was drawn to POE in the first place. Anyway I was just curious.

Infinite Pest, I do not remember that show, but it sounds like fun. I do remember walking past Pioneer with my dad when I was young, and saying to my dad "Hey dad, you're good at chess, you should play those guys." to which he replied something akin to, 'hell no, I don't want my ass handed to me, they're professional hustlers'.
