The owners have backpedaled a bit since this video was made. I gather the situation went totally fucking mental on Twitter. They're claiming they received death threats and their servers were DDOSed.
They're saying now that to prevent abuse it's going to be a 100% opt-in system, to which I suppose we should all breath a sigh relief.

Old_Zircon - 2015-10-15 Give it a couple more years.
|
Monkey Napoleon - 2015-10-15 Oh, I know. This is totally the next step.
It's just a little comforting to know that they're not going to win with the first swing, though. If we're lucky, it'll take 15+ years for them to win by attrition like what's happening with telecoms wanting to control internet traffic.

Peeple: the web app equivalent of that AIDS medicine CEO that thought they could just go for broke.
|
Hooker - 2015-10-15 The only downside is we never got to see the horrid CEO's Peeple page.

Humanity : ★★
Would have been one star, but +1 for being a buttsex species.

I really don't think they're terrible people, it just that no matter how many times you read Think and Grow Rich, a bad idea is still a bad idea.
|
Monkey Napoleon - 2015-10-16 I don't think anyone thinks they're terrible people. I mean, the two women come off like totally clueless naive bimbos.
Only a simpleton thinks product reviews are about the positive ones, which is how they were pushing the service the entire time.
|
Hooker - 2015-10-17 I think the absurd amount of bullshit explanations the main one has been pushing puts her squarely in terrible person territory. She knows she's doing an awful thing and is trying to hand wave that away.
|
John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-10-17 What I see is too much positive thinking, badly applied. No amount of positive thinking can make a bad idea into a good idea.
