Best Nyman soundtrack, best Greenaway movie. Watched this so many times in 10th grade.

Actually meeting Peter Greenaway briefly kind of killed the joy for me, though, he seemed like a classic pompous art star and referred to himself in the third person. I'm pretty sure I haven't once watched one of his films since then.

Love his 82-91 period, but from what I've seen of his films, he rapidly started consuming his own tail after Prospero's Books.

I've made myself sit through Baby of Mācon, 8½ Women, some version of Tulse Luper Suitcases, and Nightwatching, and while they're all striking frame by frame, they're all so muddled plotwise it was a chore. After the death of Sacha Vierny (his cinematographer from 85-99), it loses its lovely chiaroscuro lighting and dolly shots, too.

I haven't seen anything since The Pillow Book.

Add Drowning By Numbers to my short list, that one's fantastic. I like all of his stuff up through The Cook etc. but Zoo and Drowning By Numbers are easily my favorites.

Have you ever seen the movie The Reflecting Skin? I think you'd really like it. I remember Psychotronic paraphrasing some critic whose name I forget who compared it to "Days Of Heaven directed by David Lynch" and that kind of makes sense but only superficially. Wikipedia calls it a horror movie, which makes no sense at all.
