This would have been really exciting, like, 10 years ago.
Now, as it is, this is just yet another nostalgia grab on Kickstarter that will probably result in a really, really mediocre game. Kind of like Double Fine's "Broken Age" which was supposed to be a return to Schaffer's Lucasarts origins, but was basically just a game for babies with none of the actual writing or sophistication of the Lucasarts age.
And also wasn't finished properly.
Also, DF has been doing a really great job of downplaying the disaster that was Spacebase DF-9, an early access Steam game that basically took in shit tons of money, was released as unfinished crap, and then they just gave up on it saying "Oh, we'll release the code so the COMMUNITY can finish it! We're so gosh darned indie!!"
No thanks. Although I hope Richard Horowitz gets a paycheck out of this somewhere.

What it was was a tedious, meaningless strategic portion meets tedious combat that felt like what you would get if Final Fantasy Tactics had stuck you with first level squires all games. Plus the most hideous color scheme ever!

Meerkat - 2015-12-09 It was cute but had some of the coolest and fun level design I've ever seen. The Milkman Conspiracy was pretty faboo. But the ending kind of sucked in that gimmicky end-boss kind of way.

StanleyPain - 2015-12-09 Psychonauts was a really great platformer with some solid elements to it. It was no perfect, though. Towards the end it tends to lose what makes it work and I think most people would argue the bullshit ending (a level that is ludicrously difficult because of the limitations of the controls and faulty camera system) kind of soured the whole experience.
But I think everyone should give a try. It's undoubtedly the best thing Double Fine has ever made, in my opinion.

Nominal - 2015-12-09 I had more fun dicking around the camp than I did with most of the mind levels. Although milkman and Napoleon were fun, the bull (painter) level, asylum climb, meat circus were atrocious.

BiggerJ - 2015-12-09 The best part of the game was a holdover from Tim Schafer's addventure game days - the kids doing different things after each mission, and all the combinations of characters and items/powers. You didn't mention the theater level - it's fun to combine all the sets and light/dark settings with all the scripts (and the default performance).

My problem with crowdfunding is an entity gets a big pile of cash without really having to lay out a detailed strategy for using said pile. They're also not obligated to pay back their investors.
Then again, mainstream investors will only fund something they're sure can give them a good return. That's why we have so many triple-A franchise games and so little innovation.
It's just crummy all around.
