These vignettes are so true! Especially the second part.

"All we've got are the disloyal, greedy, has-beens from the 80s"

Harsh words, but somebody had to stand up and speak truth to power.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-26

These are pretty funny when you consider WWE's constant use of old stars. Retire the freakin' Undertaker already.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-26

The Undertaker's loyal, he's not greedy, and he isn't a has-been. You want to talk about someone who needs to retire? John Cena, he's had his run, time to step down and either leave, like Stone Cold and The Rock, or become a gatekeeper for fresh talent, like the Undertaker.

By the way, have you been following Sasha Banks? Apparently she's a big Sailor Moon mark. Her favorite Senshi is Usagi, even!

That's awesome, and I hope Vince gives her a shot at the World Heavyweight title, because she deserves it.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-26

Cena is working on stepping aside. He's on hiatus right now and that hiatus has allowed Roman Reigns to be the champ. Cena is truly loyal, a true company man. Despite the thousands of dollars he could make in TNA, he's stayed with the WWE.
Sasha Banks is cool, I won't hold her watching Sailor Moon against her since she's a woman.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-26

According to the vlogosphere, everyone hates Roman Reigns. It's obvious that Cena's not stepping down, he's just slacking- this is a classic New Coke gambit: bring in something new that everyone hates, so they can get rid of it and then bring back the old stuff to much fanfare and acclaim.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-26

What's to hate about Roman Reigns. He made it to the top despite the fact that The Authority hates him.

Scrimmjob - 2015-12-26

Is TNA still a thing? seemed like they were the true grave robbers of the pro wrestling world.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-26

They lost their spot on Spike TV, then they went to Destination America, but soon lost that spot, now they're headed to Pop TV.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-26

TNA knows their place... unlike Billionaire Ted.

If WCW hadn't tried to get all uppity and compete directly with the WWF, then maybe their promotion would still be around, you know, on public access or something.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-26

You're forgetting about TNA's illfated attempt at a Monday night war.
http://tinyurl.com/pmuzfsr

EvilHomer - 2015-12-26

Hey, I don't deny that TNA had to be put in their place too, but TNA took their medicine with a minimum of fuss. Billionaire Ted acted like him and his brand somehow belonged in wrestling.

Besides, at least TNA has the Hardy Boyz. All the wrestlers the WCW poached from the WWF were washed-up old men, but here's TNA scooping up THE BEST tag team in the business, probably because Matt and Jeff care a lot about the honor and authenticity which comes from wrestling for a small-town promotion.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-26

The Hardy Boyz ARE washed up old men. The only reason why they've stayed in TNA so long is because their lax drug policy. The best Tag Team is the New Day.
You mock WCW, but they actually had WWE on the ropes. They beat them in ratings for well over a year.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-26

Oh, please. The Hardy Boyz aren't washed up! Maybe Jeff a little, but overall they are still as Xtreme as they ever were, and yes, may even be getting MORE Xtreme as time goes on. They aren't old, they're maturing, like fine wines. Xtreme wines.

And OF COURSE the Hardy Boyz are going to reward TNA's progressive substance-use policies with their continued loyalty. You can't fault the Hardyz for being committed to social justice!

Cena_mark - 2015-12-27

Your odd defense of Hardy's drug use aside, the greatest sin TNA committed WAS becoming WCW light. There period where TNA was entertaining. They had a good mix of young and old wrestlers, and a lot of potential. They should have continued to emphasize the unique talents of their X Division like Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, and Samoa Joe, but instead they put the reins in the hands of over priced morons like Bischoff, Russo, and Hogan, who hadn't had a a good idea since 1997. Mind you this was during a time where WWE wasn't really that good. TNA could have really taken the ball and run with it.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-27

How is it odd? The Hardys have incredibly progressive attitudes towards substance-use, so it's only natural that they'd resonate with TNA. The WWE is great and all, but they've never quite recovered from the blow their brand took because of Linda's Republican political ambitions. It used to be that the WWE was fairly progressive, too - spearheading social dialogue through things like beer cannons and kayfabe sexworkers. But those days are gone, and now it's up to brave athletes like Matt and Jeff to keep the spirit of rock and roll burning.

TNA's problem wasn't that they should have emphasized no-namers or that they bought over-priced morons - rather, TNA's problem was they should have bought THE CORRECT over-priced morons. Instead of Hogan or Bischoff, they should have taken a hint from the Hardys/Foley and bought people like Stone Cold and The Rock. If the TNA roster had of looked less like WCW and more like Attitude Era WWF, I guarantee they would have killed John Cena and Friends.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-27

That woulnd't have worked. Stone Cold is retired due to injuries and the Rock is a movie star. TNA can't afford The Rock let alone pay millions for him to run a part time schedule like WWE did.
There's a big difference between progressive attitudes towards drugs and showing to perform stoned out of your mind.
WWE is plenty progressive. When Darrin Young came out of the closet a few years ago, they handled it really well. I was afraid they were going to gay up his character, but they kept him the same.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-27

>> There's a big difference between progressive attitudes towards drugs and showing to perform stoned out of your mind.

Really? You try telling that to Jerry Garcia.

If Hogan can still wrestle than Stone Cold can, too, or at the very least, TNA could have used Austin in a storyline/ commentary position, sort of like the way Vince utilized HBK, Taz, and Jericho. And "can't afford"? "Can't afford"?! You gotta spend money to make money, Cena. TNA should have FOUND a way to get Dwayne on their payroll, even if it involved mafia loans and firing AJ Whatshisface.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of The Rock, but from a business perspective? Hiring him would be the right move.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-27

But in wrestling performing is also about keeping other wrestlers safe. He can't be trusted if he's on drugs.
Even if they had the money they couldn't get Austin or Rock. Trust me here. They care too much about thier legacies to risk it on that mismanaged wreck.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-27

>> He can't be trusted if he's on drugs.

I'm sorry Cena, but do you have any evidence for this? It sounds to me like one of those unsubstantiated drug legends ("if you smoke pot, you might eat a baby!"), so I'm going to have to ask you to please cite a valid source of evidence, such as a peer-reviewed study, supporting the claim that wrestlers on drugs can't be trusted.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-27

It's not just illicit drugs. I wouldn't want to have match with a drunk person (Yet Austin and Sandman had beer before matches, but they weren't drunk.) I'm sure you've seen the Victory Road 2011 video. It was posted here. I'm talking about this behavior.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiA65OUNpIM

EvilHomer - 2015-12-27

What behavior? Jeff doesn't do anything dangerous, he just stands around and harmlessly waves a t-shirt in the air. Sting knew exactly what Jeff was doing and remained perfectly safe for the entire match. You wanna talk about bullshit? The REAL problem was that the referee blatantly screwed Jeff on the count! Not cool, ref, not cool.

As for being drunk, beer fueled Austin's entire championship reign, and made his time in the WWE the most electrifying era in the history of sports-entertainment. You say he wasn't drunk, and well maybe you're right, maybe Stone Cold can hold his liquor like a champ. But facts are facts: Austin routinely chugged multiple beers before and after his matches, to no ill-effect.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-27

The irony is that, at 8:46, *Sting* legitimately injures *Jeff*!

I guess being sober is more dangerous than being high.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-27

That's not irony. Being a good wrestler means protecting both your opponent and yourself. Hardy was too stoned to take a bump. Either way this was insulting to the fans. If you're performing live you give the audience what they paid for, you don't give them this Kieth Moon shit.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-27

First you're saying it's about safety and trust, now you're saying it's about insults and giving the fans what they want. Which is it?

Jeff was on drugs, yes. But Sting was the one botching moves (he grabbed Jeff by the hair!) and Bischoff was the one who didn't give the fans what they wanted (he ordered Sting and the ref to pull a shoot screwjob on Jeff).

Cena_mark - 2015-12-27

It's about both. And don't get me started on Willow. All your Hardy fanboy nonsense and yet you probably don't even know about the embarrassing mess that was Willow.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-27

What do you have against Willow? What could you POSSIBLY have against Willow?!

Cena_mark - 2015-12-27

Willow was likely the product of Jeff Hardy binging on both illicit drugs and Tim Burton movies, and then burglarizing a Hot Topic.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-27

Willow's awesome. He's an aspect of Jeff's personality and a major creative influence on his host - Jeff has undoubtedly one of the strongest, fastest, coolest move-sets in wrestling, and he has stated that many of these forbidden techniques were directly inspired by Willow.

Willow's basically a dark faerie, a pagan spirit straight out of a World of Darkness LARP. What could be cooler than that?

EvilHomer - 2015-12-27

Here's a quote from Jeff, his own take on Willow. This is the Real Deal, so get ready:

-----------------------
One thing that none of my fans truly know is that Willow is Jeff Hardy. In the days of Omega, I was Jeff Hardy, with the painted face, the babyface, and then I was Willow later in the show, wrestling my brother later in the show as the bad guy, the demon from down under and I was completely different back in the day, but that was before I got tattooed up and now it's very hard to cover my tattoos and it's just not reasonable. The thing about Willow and Jeff Hardy is that Willow is the idea I had and a figment of my imagination that has inspired so many of Jeff Hardy's moves and Jeff Hardy's style and the cut up sleeves on my arm that originally came from Marilyn Manson, I thought that all would be great for Willow and I would be rocking that back in Omega where it originated and it became one of the top merchandise items of all time. The coolest thing about TNA letting me do Willow is that they were unafraid to let Jeff Hardy express himself, like an extended version of himself, and they weren't afraid to put a mask on me, which WWE probably would've never done, but I truly believe, and you'll see in the future, that it's going to work. Jeff Hardy, with his Imag-i-nation and the figment of it that is Willow, you'll be able to see a cool visual of what actually goes on in my mind and you might see Willow every now and then, but for the most part it will be a glimpse into my mind.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-27

In other words, he's Jeff Hardy's Sasha Fierce.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-27

More like his Chris Gaines.

EvilHomer - 2015-12-28

Seriously, Jeff's an amazing highflyer and totally fearless with his moves; plus, unlike many other highfliers, he's still got power and charisma.

Call me when John Cena can get his oversized steroid butt to pull off a spot as crazy as the Swanton Bomb.
