In fairness to cultural appropriation, most of the world cosplays as Westerners nowadays and we don't bat an eye.

I do want to see this documentary now though, which must've come out around the same time as Lone Ranger, which I haven't seen but stirred the pot in the Native American community for its casting of Johnny Depp as Tonto, kind of like the Jared Leto's performance in Dallas Buyers club did with the transgendered community a few years later and both quickly forgotten about. Star power has something to do with the decision to not cast Indians and Transgendered people for those starring roles. It's much the same as blackface but the communities are under-represented enough that any public outcry went unnoticed.

But think of all the t-shirts and bumper stickers brah! I knew someone in college who was taking the same Eastern Religion Studies class as me who wore his FREE TIBET or Che shirt every day to discussions, and even during the discussions he had no clue what he was talking about. His shirt should've just read FREE PUSSY. Also I was talking to him once and he pronounced Guevara like "Guava."
