It's a White Protestant Maelstrom!

11:13 is about the point where he starts saying "You're fucking a white male! You're a white man!"

|
Bort - 2016-03-22 I just fast forwarded through it until I saw the part that looked right. The same strategy I use on zit-popping videos to get to the good parts.

hope y'all realize the Hivemind already smashed the fuck out of this guy (he is immortalized historically as Aids Skrillex) and basically destroyed his life
|
lotsmoreorcs - 2016-03-22 i have the st louis guys back on this when it comes to heart, at least he is not hiding behind his phone. the trump supporter is absolutely insufferable but so are the snark hounds behind Aids Skrillex. i absolutely abhor the culture of people viewing reality through the prism of their fucking personal devices and social media networks. i recommend you all kill your facebooks switch back to flip phones and learn to look at the internet as a anchored tether point in the form of a stationary device like a laptop. it will be all the rage in a few years anyways, might as well get ahead of the curve as this site tends to ride that line

Bort - 2016-03-22 The thing I notice first about long-haired guy is, he thinks shouting his slogans is the same as making an argument. That works fine in echo chambers, but not so well against someone with a different viewpoint, even if that other person is no better of a debater. Like Shouty says at one point that blacks are getting shot by police and Smugtrump says whites are too, and Shouty doesn't have a good response; seems like the sort of point he'd be prepared to rebut if he were in the habit of actually thinking his positions through, or had previously ever had to defend his positions.
tl/dr two sides shouting slogans at each other
|
EvilHomer - 2016-03-22 Yeah, this morning I noticed that reddit had an "AIDS Skrillex" subreddit, and ED has an entire article dedicated to doxxing him and his friends. Apparently the poor fellow was a fan of Rainbow Dash; he will be missed.
|
EvilHomer - 2016-03-22 Mind you, provocateuring, being misinformed about Leninism, and lying to the police about being assaulted are NOT behaviors condoned by the Elements of Harmony.

an afterthought, the preload looks like they're all holding together in some incredible slouchy OHM

Bort - 2016-03-22 Viva la resistance!

Monkey Napoleon - 2016-03-22
Funny how after all the whining about taking it out of context, it's *exactly* the context everyone was assuming it was.
|
EvilHomer - 2016-03-22 If anything, it's worse. :(

So... should I submit the video of him getting hump by his dog, or is that a violation of general site guidelines?
|
lotsmoreorcs - 2016-03-23 POSTING PERSONAL PHOTOS OF FELLOW MANCHILDREN IS *GROSS*, Dude.

This seems like a good thread to plug two fantastic articles from the latest issue of my favorite magazine:
http://thebaffler.com/salvos/new-man-4chan-nagle
http://thebaffler.com/salvos/against-activism
|
Bort - 2016-03-22 I'm only halfway through that second article and I'm already (figuratively) lighting a cigarette like Patty and Selma at the end of "MacGyver". Fantastic article indeed! It damn well better not end with "nah, just kidding, what we need are more people to MAKE SOME NOISE!'
|
Old_Zircon - 2016-03-23 The Baffler is pretty amazing, literally every article I've read in it is this good (well, maybe not Zizek's three paragraph ramble about porn from a couple years ago, but it's good in in a different way).
|
Old_Zircon - 2016-03-23 Never mind, I looked up the Zizek one and it turns out I forgot that it was actually just some excerpts of a larger interview that they cherry picked and posted on their blog for a Valentine's Day joke:
http://thebaffler.com/blog/zizek-on-seduction
Their new thing where more or less once a week David Rees posts a long treatment for a ridiculous, undrawable political cartoon and encourages readers to send in their attempts is pretty good so far, too. Especially the Scalia memorial one:

On the stunningly ridiculous Biocybernaut Institute where tech barons and tech baron wannabes pay ,000 for a week long program that uses biofeedback or something to make you "twelve IQ points smarter, 50 percent more creative, and have the brain activity of a Zen master," with bonus tangents about the Bulletproof Coffee scam:
