I thought it was habbening when I was doing the anti-war protest circuit during the Bush years, but all that habbened was the movement died after Obama was inserted, with much tenderness, into the White House. We're a long way from the breaking point.

The left is so poorly organized in the U.S. that any sort of action at this point is largely spontaneous and movement orientated rather than actually guided to tip the scales and shift power.

Ask again in a few months when the kids have had a chance to wind things up again. Look for real action if the Republicans dump Trump and he urges his supporters to back this action. He came pretty close to that today, from what I just heard on the nightly news.

The whole "purity test" doctrine is what's really been killing any progressive movement lately where movements splinter into various pet causes and the slightest difference of opinions in any of those causes breaks the whole thing up. Conservatives (ultimately) stick together as long as a single interest is shared.

Opinions on different parts of this:

- The arrests: it's hard to say whether there was any justification to them. It could have been that the protesters were minding their own business and the police cracked down on them for no good reason, or it could have been that they were blocking the steps of the Capitol so that people couldn't get in or out and refused to heed warnings. We'll probably never know (though people will insist that OF COURSE it was the one or the other).

- The cause: fundamentally legit, though I bet if you asked the average protester, they couldn't talk articulately about where the problems lie. I fear we'd get mostly variations of "they're ALL on the take, maaaaaan".

- The methods: protests aren't one-tenth as effective as actually fucking voting in the general elections. But of course a lot of people like to believe that all politicians are equally corrupt and therefore voting is an exercise in futility. Those people are part of the problem, no matter how much they claim to be searching for a solution.

Just based on my real-world experience with them, I doubt there will ever be any serious pushback from middle-class far leftists. They make a lot of noise, but they're all bark and no bite, and most of them fall in line when a Democrat is in the White House. They're easily distracted by frivolous social issues.

If anything is going to touch off, it going to be my people who do the touching, provided they can tear themselves away from NASCAR long enough to mount an armed insurrection. They're currently congealing around Trump, but if the GOP pulls some shenanigans and steals the nomination from him, or if he loses the election to Clinton, there are going to be a lot of pissed-off good old boys with nowhere to turn.

Of course, I don't think there will ever be a second American revolution, not is one really needed. As I always say, America is an empire on the decline. As the power of the federal government wanes (it's already insolvent), I think America will begin to break up into a more regional type of system, where local governments will have more autonomy than they currently do. This will be for the best since America is a large country with many competing cultures. Hell, even Europe, which is roughly the size of America, has something like 50 sovereign countries, each with its own way of doing things. In the end, America just got too big for its britches.
