The question I'd have for attorney Monique Blinkling here: does this cult make you crazy or do only crazy people join?

"David is backstage, literally tearing me apart verbally."

NO. THAT IS NOT WHAT IS "LITERALLY" MEANS. IN FACT, THAT IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF "LITERALLY". THAT IS AN EXAMPLE OF "FIGURATIVELY".

If the father spouts such garbage, I can see how David Miscavige turned out the way he did.

Muad'Dave is the leader of the CoS now, you think he hasn't mastered The Weirding Way?

He's undoubtedly had plenty of experience riding the worm too.

The asthmatic dwarf cannot be stopped: all squirrels and clams know this.

How do you know he is not being literal? I have played Mortal Kombat. I have seen Sindel tear people apart with the sheer sonic power of her voice. Perhaps that is what David is doing?

Literal in the Thetan sense.

memedumpster - 2016-05-04

"Figuratively tearing me apart verbally" would mean "did not tear me apart verbally."

"Tear me apart verbally" has a specifically different meaning to, say, "tear me apart with wild animals." The meaning is not figurative, it's specific to "verbally."

EvilHomer - 2016-05-04

Meme - I was thinking that too, but I watched the clip and the way he said it sounded more like "literally tearing me apart, verbally" than "literally tearing me apart verbally". Yes, the latter would be a reference to the figure of speech "tear me apart verbally", but the former clearly means that he is being torn apart, figuratively.

EvilHomer - 2016-05-04

... or possibly torn apart literally; like I said, we don't actually know the specifics. David could be Sindel.

Anaxagoras - 2016-05-04

Yes, "Tear me apart verbally" does have a specific meaning, but that meaning is figurative. As soon as you apply the modifier "literally" to that phrase, it immediately assumes the same meaning as "tear me apart with wild animals', except with words. Somehow.

I had not considered the Sindel hypothesis, however, Touche, EvilHomer. You win this round.

memedumpster - 2016-05-04

My argument destroyed, I too would like to change my answer to Sindel.
