The courtroom dialogue is pretty much just the real-life transcripts. It's the best acting Diesel's ever done. That's not makeup, either. He packed on almost 40 pounds for the role.

All the performances are excellent. I don't know why this didn't do better at the box office. It does kind of drag in parts, but I think the good outweighs the bad.

I thought of this movie the other day when My mom, sister & I were talking about mob movies. I think "The Godfather" had been on television or something to spark the conversation.

Jesus, it's a Sidney Lumet movie?!?!?!?

I just watched "The Verdict" for the first time last week. Amazing film. I'll definitely give anything Lumet does a watch.
