Metatron's companion video: https://youtu.be/X2Wk4w9Z05w

Sword Guy channels seem to go down pretty well here on poeTV, but I'm not sure how interested you all are in Armor Guy nerdery. if you ARE interested in Armor Guy stuff, then this video is basically the dream-team pairing; I'd heartily recommend both Knyght Errant and Metatron's channel.

Knyght Errant is my favorite Armor Guy; he's very chill, very friendly, and has hands-on experience, as he builds (at least some of) his own gear. He's a veteran (not sure exactly what he did, but I believe he was a US Navy pilot) and, while he doesn't put out as many videos as some of the other celebridorks on Youtube, they are almost always highly informative and fun.

Metatron is also great. He's basically a high-functioning power-metal nerd. He's Italian, speaks at least three languages, and is particularly keen on Japan. If you want to know anything about medieval Southern Europe or Japan, and you don't mind hearing white people pronouncing Japanese words properly (very conspicuous!), then his is the channel to go to.

Cena_mark - 2016-07-04

He's a biased medievalist hack. Samurai are better.. That's why Europeans didn't try messing around with Japan until the gun was better developed.

EvilHomer - 2016-07-04

Which one? Knyght says right upfront that he has no beef with Japan, and Metatron is a bigger weeb than you are (if that can be believed!).

Also, the reason Europeans didn't mess with Japan until they had guns was because the Europeans didn't even know Japan existed until they had guns. Japan's on the complete other side of the world - and it's a lucky thing, too, because if Japan were any closer, the Knights Templars would have shown up and conquered their asses a thousand years ago.

EvilHomer - 2016-07-05

In fact, during the 16th century the Portuguese - who were amongst the most useless of all Europeans - were able to roflstomp all over the samurai with nothing more than breastplates (a fraction of a true knight's armour), basic rapiers, and guns!

Portuguese knights could barely even handle North African nomads, so if Portuguese NON-knights were *still good enough* to beat the samurai, what hope would a samurai have against a master of chivalry hailing from England, France, or Germany?

Raggamuffin - 2016-07-04

I know that armor can look unwieldy but is it much of a surprise that you can move around in it? Why would people have worn it in a fight if they couldn't move around?

glasseye - 2016-07-05

Terrible 1950s movies, and false Victorian narratives about history have given people the false impression that armour made one into a lumbering beast.

Kneeerds!

memedumpster - 2016-07-04

This video raises some amazing questions.

I am old as balls, but am not going grey due to being a hateful spiteful fuck leading to ironic immortality. Do you old fucks with greying beards feel extra terrible about it?

EvilHomer - 2016-07-04

I started greying at the age of thirteen. I have a stripe down the left side of my head. I'm indifferent towards it, as it lends my hair personality, and I can dye it whenever I want.

My beard, however, does not grey. It turns reddish-blonde after it gets about an inch long.

memedumpster - 2016-07-04

I know someone else who has that.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poliosis

I prefer to call it Rogue Hair.

GravidWithHate - 2016-07-04

Not really. I have like 4 different colours of hair in my beard, so white is just adding to the effect.

Old_Zircon - 2016-07-04

My hair started receding when I was 15 or 16 but I didn't start to get any grey hair until this year. Exactly the same age my mom started (I think my dad was in his mid 40s before he went grey).

I need to take advantage of my ability to pass for 28 while it lasts. Ever since I was old enough to drive everyone has thought I was 28.

Gmork - 2016-07-04

I am never going to be bald. Five stars!

Pillager - 2016-07-04

I'm old. I do nothing to hide it.

I'm proud to have made it this far. Fingers & toes aren't enough to count my late friends & family who no longer savor that privilege.

Bobonne - 2016-07-04

My hair started going grey in my late 20s, but it's restrained itself to just the front, and mostly on the right, thus far. Like, it's really noticible, but it's really localized, so I guess it might be some variant of Poliosis or something.

Seems like going grey runs in the family (and my grandfather's family name actually means "silver" in the language of his ancestry).

SolRo - 2016-07-04

My hair started thinning a couple years ago, but it keeps growing back so I'm not going bald (yet?). I also have the stereotypical Mens Hair Dye greying pattern starting up about the same time as the thinning.

Only thing that bothers me is that my facial hair is subject to same thinning so I cant grow out a properly glorious mustache.
