Sigh.
The Daily Show brought down McCain, and it brought down Romney, and they leave it to the JV squad for a cycle and the Beast From The Sea rises. Way to go, assholes.

Bort - 2016-07-19 I'm not sure how many Trump supporters would have gone for, say, Kasich because Jon Stewart made fun of Trump.
|
Cena_mark - 2016-07-19 1. He lacks edge.
2. Right wingers will just straight up dismiss his commentary cause he's not American.
|
Meerkat - 2016-07-19 I think Jon Stewart's edge came from a biting sarcastic nasty edge that sometimes comes out when you're trying to reason with idiots.
Trevor Noah is "too nice" all the time. He reads the jokes and then laughs at them, he doesn't really aim them like a dagger to the heart of the stupidity.
|
yogarfield - 2016-07-19 I wasn't under the assumption that anyone thought Noah was remotely funny, much less "edgy".
|
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2016-07-19 Cena, agreed but I would add that Trevor also comes across like he doesn't have much of an investment in American politics. John Oliver has so much passion and enthusiasm for everything he talks about, that projects onto the audience. Trevor is quite clever, but whenever I've watched him I just get the impression he doesn't give much of a crap.

I saw this "Colbert has lost his mind" thing on another site. What gives? He's doing a damn funny prank/real life sketch.
I am so confused.

SolRo - 2016-07-19 nor any physical comedy, say, twitching like a cripple!
maybe a menstruation joke to lighten things up afterwards.

This is art. Beautiful, transitive, and ultimately futile.
That said, I still laughed my ass off.

He really didn't think this through very well. It's not even a good gag.

My dad is convinced that this was a sanctioned routine, because he can't imagine that security would have let him in at all otherwise. It sure doesn't look sanctioned to me.

|
SolRo - 2016-07-19 It looks like a pre show setup event, not the actual convention. Notice all the empty seats and lack of booing hoard of sensitive republicans
|
badideasinaction - 2016-07-20 I assumed it was an agreed upon bit during the sound checks and media setup time. The lone security guard seemed way more accommodating than what I'd expect and walked him right into the literal arms of the producer for the segment. Also looks like he was wearing sunglasses which is a bit over the top.
