Here are my highly abbreviated thoughts on the ethos of downvoting, political disagreements and such.

1) A very high tolerance for as many kinds of videos and commentary as possible (and a slow-moving banhammer) makes sense for this site.
A given video could be poeworthy to different people for conflicting reasons, which usually leads to interesting comments and replies.
Commentary should include discussing, arguing, winding each other up, trying ideas on for size that you reject later on, mild to moderate trolling, satirizing each other, reconsidering yourself, etc etc. Anonymity is generally good for this Thunderdome-fuckfest of ideas, even if it's bad at given times.

2) I think 'very high tolerance' is a better virtue than 'total tolerance', if only to prevent disruption by total shit.
But partial shit belongs here, makes the flowers grow, etc. The devil's in the details on where to draw the line, but I don't think it should be a puritanical instinct and a low bar.
Ain't nobody's shit don't stink, mon semblable, mon frere.

3) When you see a vid in the hopper, you can upvote it, downvote it, or abstain. I try not to downvote anything that I know is poeworthy simply because it bothers *me* or because *I* would hate to discuss it again. I try to simply abstain from voting.

4) Lastly, specific to this site compared to most media, we have a pretty good combination of a) a decent spectrum of viewpoints, multiplied by b) fairly intelligent commentary, and titty-twisted by c) hilarious dumbfuckery as opposed to internet-standard dumbfuckery. Let's not lose that.

That's the short of it. Everything else is just an elaboration on these virtues, I think.

I will auto-downvote obvious submits of one's own YT "how to" or "top ten" vids. If it's clever, funny, interesting or debate-worthy content suitable for poeTV it gets a pass even if it's a submitter's creation.

I think most of you are closer to orcs than anywhere else when it comes to politics. Every political video is an opportunity for me to be personally offended by the womb-comfort fear politics of poeTV, but I do not my damnedest not to one star them off the front page though I always want to. I experience this every morning and it keeps me off the site for most of the day, except Mondays of course.

I found it a contradiction to tolerate orcs less than the rest of you, so I gave him as much of a chance to say the same terrible shit most of you all do as well.

If I took this out on the hopper, I'd downvote every single politics or comedy central comedic shill video every time, and then I'd be the next orcs.

I vote for what I like, ignore what I don't. If somebody else wants to talk about a video, there's usually no reason for me to care. I probably average a downvote a year. and I probably don't watch 90 per cent of all the videos posted at any given time.

Any good memorial should mark the places and people so ennobled. You should look at the comment history and pick out some key moments in Orcs narrative arc. First post. Early Orcs. Zoe Orcs. Late Orcs. How to represent this in visual form is up to you, but try not to be so literal at the Zoe stage. Trust me.

If he was gone, I'd miss him. Evil Homer reminds me of my cat, Zoe, who likes to play "The Chase Me Game", which ought to be self-explanatory. That's a pretty good analogy for Homer, trying to lure me into an argument I'll never ever win. It's hard not to think of it as good-natured, even if I don't take the bait as much as I used to.

He's definitely a troll, but he's the most elegant, thoughtful troll I've ever encountered. He writes well. Because he's usually so full of shit, his occasional moments of sincerity (or so I choose to take them) stand out. They can even be touching.

And sometimes, The Chase Me Game is fun! If the argument is about something I love to talk about. Homer will definitely give me the opportunity, in spades.
