I didn't know how to feel about this movie. It had a lot of the original players, but it was so ham-fisted, obviously cheap and unenjoyable.

I agree. About not knowing how to feel about it, I mean. Why did we need a ten year old protagonist in a movie that's clearly not for kids? And the dumb big sister and the dumb cable guy who would later be a lot better as Bobby in Twin Peaks?

But James Karen is so good in this! In the Greater New York area Karen is probably best remember for the commercials he did for a supermarket chain. It's wonderful to see a veteran who has been doing forgettable stuff for his whole life, get his hands on a bad role in a bad film, and get something real out it. His terror and confusion as he slowly goes full zombie is the only thing here that's genuinely frightening. Other than that, there are a few laughs and a few good effects

Is that Bobby Briggs?
