I don't think Milo is self hating. He is very Catholic though, and I think he misinterprets a lot of things about gay culture and thinks it should all be about trying to be different and camp. He seems to fear gay people integrating into normal society too much. He admits to wanting children and he doesn't believe that children should be brought up by anyone other than a man and a woman together. It's not the first time religion has fucked someone up. It's more like having values conflicting inside one's head and not being able to realize it. It's cognitive dissonance plus a sort of sadness disguised as not caring.

I actually really agree with a lot of his take on the regressive left and when he's speaking and not taking uppers he's great.
