That's nice that a movie about gay people won and that even a black Muslim got an Oscar, but it would be nice if there were some intellectual honesty in reporting that not only are Ahmadi Muslims just as bad about gay people as most Muslim branches, but they themselves are also an oppressed minority under Shias and Sunnis.
The regressive "hijabs are feminine empowerment" crowd are going to have exploding heads when they realize that Muslims can also be victimized by other Muslims (Oh my stars! But Islam is all about peace! Wait, but Ahmadis preach anti-gay bullshit too. So they are not actually Muslim! Wait, but they are attacked by other Muslims, so then I guess they are?? WHATEVER WILL WE HASHTAG? WHO ARE THE REAL MUSLIMS? )

I think I said it on here somewhere before, but if you like musicals and shit like Moulin Rouge, then you'll like it: it's good at what it's trying to do. But I ain't trying to see it, and usually these things don't get to serious Best Picture consideration, so to that end it was garbage and I hope the resurgence of Broadway goes away with it. Moonlight, on the other hand, was really good, which is what you'll hear every white person say but it's also true. I also liked Manchester by the Sea, although it's not as good as the director's other film, 'You Can Count on Me' starring a pre-The-Incredible-Hulk Mark Ruffalo and one of Kevin McCallister's Younger Brothers. Haven't seen the rest but I have 'Arrival' on my laptop and I'm waiting for the perfect level of "stoned" to watch it.
I'm surprised 'Elle' got next to no recognition, and not just from The Academy, but EVERYWHERE, except for actress in a leading role. Next to Robocop it's my favorite Verhoeven film.
But now everybody's happy, for what it's worth. But steer clear of movie theatre queues or at least don't look directly at them for a few weeks; the sheer whiteness will surely blind you :)

At one point they brought in a random busload of proles to interact with the celebrity elite. They wouldn't put down their cell phones and began pawing the celebs. It was amazing.
But it all built up to this moment, and you just knew the black gay poor was gonna win, then they blow the whole reveal and give the award to Honkey Q Asshole and his funky bunch. Up in the control booth, some dude looks like dustin hoffman is crushing a paper coffee cup against his head and screaming into a microphone. Chaos ensues. Donald Trump wins the election. Fade to black.
