I hate to say it but found this movie strangely endearing like a lawn Gnome or velvet Evils.
It's such a mess. The character effects are brilliant. It's shot like it's shot by a blind Martian who doesn't know how cameras work, though.
Did get nominated for an Oscar, oddly enough.
MB, I kind of did too but I'm a sucker for lowbrow existentialism.

What they did to Bernadette Peters in this movie should be considered a hate crime.
It was incredibly hard to stay awake during this movie. Damn you all.
This was an attempt by the studio to cash in on Star Wars and ET. Kaufman only made this because the studio promised they'd make The Tony Clifton story if it was a hit.
