Sadly (probably because they were marching to protest their gang listing) it looks like they avoiding bashing any fash's at the simultaneous racist's rally.

Cena_mark - 2017-09-21

They did enough in dwarfing their sorry little rally.

Space Odin - 2017-09-22

The other rally had like 200 people, and some of them were Proud Boys who I don't think are technically people.

I forget if I've shared this already but someone I used to know who grew up in foster care was placed with a family of juggalos for nearly 3 years in high school. She never learned to like the music but said they were easily the best family she had ever been with and were fantastic parents to their two biological families. Even the family trips to ICP shows weren't THAT bad apparently because, just like everyone else I know who has been to one, she said even though she hated the music they were some of the most entertaining performances she'd ever seen.

The family they interview in this reminds me of that stuff.

Anaxagoras - 2017-09-21

Yeah, the more I read about the ICP and the Juggaloes, the more apparent it becomes to me that they're Good People. Terrible taste in music, but Good People.

Terrible, terrible taste in music. Seriously, the construction of ICP songs is awful, and their rapping skills are only so-so.

But yeah.... they apparently have a long history of being violently anti-bigotted. And there I thought that there would be some overlap between Juggaloes and Trump supporters. Turns out... not so much.

Terrible music can bring good people together. One to grow on.

Old_Zircon - 2017-09-21

I don't even have much criticism of their music at this point, between learning about the influence that the 70s French avant garde had on them and realizing that it's better understood as high concept wrestling promos without the wrestling, I've gained more respect for what they do even if it Isn't my thing (and really, their best material is comparable with, say, Gravediggaz, it's more just that horrorcore is kind of lowbrow, but shit so is Miami bass and I love that stuff).

Anyhow, I've been a Juggalo sympathizer since Bush was in his first term, even though I don't listen to them.

Old_Zircon - 2017-09-21

Oh, and I want to make it clear that while I used the term "lowbrow" out of convenience I don't actually buy that distinction for a sec9nd in reality.

Space Odin - 2017-09-22

I've had limited Juggalo interactions -- the music is aesthetically terrible most of the time (to me) but they've always come across as normal people. Recently when ICP was in town my friend and I were down at the bodega next to his apartment which was around the corner from the venue they were playing at. Bodega had a bunch of juggalos in it, saw my friend's Pig Destroyer shirt and struck up a conversation about grindcore and death metal and we ended up going next door and drinking a couple malt liquors and smoking on the porch just talking about music and life for about an hour.

One of the dude's Juggalette girfriend showed up about halfway in with a box of pizza and a six pack and just shared it with us. Good times were had.

Hell, I hate Phish's music a lot more than ICP's, but I still like what Phish Shirt Guy has to say

juiceboxtheeverliving - 2017-09-21

I was there. It was pretty rad.

Old_Zircon - 2017-09-21

Prickly Pete - 2017-09-21

I was there as well. Are you a Juggalo?

TheyUsedDarkForces - 2017-09-22

Good on you two for going. How did it turn out? I want a Juggalo perspective.

juiceboxtheeverliving - 2017-09-22

I think it went really well. There wasn't any trouble and everyone had fun. I randomly met another juggalo from Indiana in the pit. I also hugged the guy at 2:51 at one point. I have no idea who he is. It was great. I got to march, see some friends I've made in the last year I only see at ICP stuff, and watch some really fresh acts. It was the bees knees to me.

juiceboxtheeverliving - 2017-09-22

Yeah. You prolly didn't see me, but who knows. I had a white wolf-dog face shirt and a small purple backpack. I've been listening to them off and on for like 10 years, but I've really been down since Juggalo Day 2016 when I saw them live. That got me hooked. If you haven't seen the clowns live, you're really missing out.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-09-22

The proles will never be free unless they're awake, and the proles will never awaken because they like it that way and you just don't get it, you CONFORMIST.

Pillager - 2017-09-22

You know the situation is pretty bad when ICP looks relatively reasonable & PoeTv is saying nice things about them.

Ninehells - 2017-09-22

Well, the userbase of the site is aging, and it is hard to walk around with a full-on hateboner 24/7. Rather than blow your load on every indignation and subculture, sometimes you just want to cuddle.
