Man, only having ever watched the first half of Communion, I'd say I really missed out

Need a "Fever dream movies" category.

And it needs a catchier name.

I think Communion and Dead Zone could be two Acts in the same film.

This movie is actually kinda good, really, despite it's reputation for Walken's performance. If you're old enough to remember when the book came out in 1987, it basically kickstarted this whole new age-y bullshit thing about people interacting with aliens to transcend earth and learn about the stars and this and that and it got totally taken over by this annoying, almost Scientology-esque movement of people wanting to turn the idea of communicating with Greys as some kind of entry into a spiritual realm.
The movie, though seems to portray Strieber as someone who is basically crazy but won't accept that the "aliens" are in their head, so eventually he and his family just sort of treat the aliens as real to avoid talking about mental illness, even though he's clearly mentally ill. It was clearly taking the piss out of the whole new age/alien movement.
