Cattle mutilations is one of those things where 99% sounds crazy, but there's that 1% that legitimately makes you kinda think.
My stepdad used to own a pretty large grip of land in Northern New Mexico near Mora Country (which is about as rural as it gets in NM, really). Long story short, he kept a lot of cattle there as part of a herd his family owned and sort of centralized there and, sure enough, they started losing cows occasionally under really mysterious circumstances. The area had virtually no predators except coyotes and coyotes are not very hard to keep out of established property lines when you know what you're doing. But, when cattle are attacked by wild animals (which is pretty rare unless there's some kind of problematic imbalance in the food chain) is usually pretty obvious. But these cows my stepdad lost had weird factors, like whole limbs missing, almost surgically removed, and not a trace of any other violence on the body. Stuff that is really curious and difficult to explain. I dunno....I don't buy into ufology, but this shit is weird and really does haunt the ranchers in some of the more isolated portions of the Southwest. Always been a fascinating subject to me.

BHWW - 2017-11-11 I don't buy into UFOology either, indeed there are people who believe in cattle mutilation in that they believe that that one percent of cases that can't be easily explained away but don't believe aliens are behind it. The 1970s seemed to be the heyday of the phenomena but it never really stopped. And it's not just cattle: horses, sheep, pigs, cats, etc. have all been reported.
I too have known people who have had some experience with this - some friends of the family had some cattle in their turn up missing only to be found with limbs removed, or parts of their body almost scooped out. According to them one cow was found with it's anus removed, like it had been cored out.

Old_Zircon - 2017-11-11 I've come close to screening this pretty much every time it's been my turn to stream movies but all of the cattle mutilation crime scene photos seemed like they'd kind of kill the mood.

I used to have a copy of the book of Howe's this was based on; foolishly I ended up selling it on eBay as part of a group of old books of mine years ago because I'd like to give it a look again but the prices for used copies online can be insane, like $100 and over.

Old_Zircon - 2017-11-11 I've had a really clean copy of this on VHS (one of those tapes with no cover and a dot-matrix printed label that you could only get by calling your local PBS affiliate back in 1981) since the 90s, I should see if it's worth anything now.
