I think Hiromi Tsuru's most memorable role was proto-tsundere Madoka Ayukawa from high school ESPer romantic comedy Kimagure Orange Road, but, certainly in the west, Bulma is her most famous character (even if most people over here listen to the English or other language dub).
Her sudden death was sad and premature, she was only 57, not that old. Masako Nozawa, the voice actress for Goku and most of his male relatives, is a whole generation older, at 81 years old, and still working.
