Ugh. What's the word for the extremely triggered edgelord that throws out sarcastic trigger warnings because she thinks she is blowing the collective mind of the universe but really is just some horse-looking YT drama queen with poor editing skills?

jangbones - 2018-01-23

your comment is a collection of words, but it serves the purpose

yogarfield - 2018-01-23

I googled it. They're called "etettostwbstsibtcmotubrijshlYTdqwpes".

SolRo - 2018-01-23

deplorable?

Hazelnut - 2018-01-23

I'd call myself medium left wing, the kind of Democrat who voted for Hillary and now wishes he'd voted for Bernie, and I propose a Hazelnut Test: can someone give the URL of a poeTV clip where we criticize a conservative woman's ideas WITHOUT criticizing her appearance?

I went looking and I can't find any.

Oscar Wildcat - 2018-01-23

I think it's a "meta" thing. One of the foundational elements of the society she wishes to resurrect was the role of women as sex toys and mothers. "Shut up, get back in the kitchen, and fix me dinner bitch!" Are we in heaven, or wot???

jangbones - 2018-01-23

162529
163787
153877
123630
114053

and these are only videos that I personally submitted

Hazelnut - 2018-01-23

Jangbones gets a 20% on the Hazelnut Test:

162529 - FAIL
has the tag "horsey face"
"She obviously does not get enough anal at home."
163787 - FAIL
No one criticizes her appearance, but no one criticizes her ideas either.
153877 - FAIL
Rain's not a conservative. I'm not sure she really fits into any political category on planet Earth.
123630 - FAIL
"the first strike against her is that she suffers from, and tried to conceal, the diseases that come from the sort of cooking she showcases"
Also, and I know this is moving the goalposts but still, I should really have said "attacking her appearance or her femininity" which would include this delightful gem:
"Paula Dean loves big, fat, black cock" (arguably fat shaming here too)
114053 - PASS!
Michele Bachmann is certainly a conservative! The comments do attack her ideas. They do NOT attack her appearance -- JHM even takes a brief break from his Boxxy narrative to point out that she's an "attractive lady". Well done everyone!

Anyway, the other 80% (and the "horse-looking YT drama queen" comment, above) is actually fine since as Oscar explains this is just "meta" misogyny to show how bad those OTHER people are.

jangbones - 2018-01-23

you are loopy

also ugly

Old_Zircon - 2018-01-23

"JHM even takes a brief break from his Boxxy narrative to point out that she's an "attractive lady". "

That is criticism of appearance.

""Paula Dean loves big, fat, black cock" (arguably fat shaming here too)"

That is simple statement of empirical fact. Also I don't think it's possible to fat shame a cock.

betabox - 2018-01-23

My cock is definitely triggered by that statement.

Oscar Wildcat - 2018-01-23

Agreed, Zirc. Consider the following proposition, Hazelnut. If I told you "hey, you've got a fat cock" would you take that as a compliment or an insult? I mean, I always figured the first point, but now that you mention it, I suppose I could mean you've got a little middle aged paunch on the thing.

jangbones - 2018-01-23

penis identity politics are destroying the left

Commander Tugboat - 2018-01-23

wife with a penis

SolRo - 2018-01-24

If I call men dicks or pricks is it okay for me to call her a cunt?

Hazelnut - 2018-01-24

To be fair I’d call ANYONE espousing white nationalist garbage a cunt.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-01-24

I don't know who Hazelnut is, but randos crawl out of the ether whenever we get political.

exy - 2018-01-24

It's high time I admit it: I'm horse-cocked

Monkey Napoleon - 2018-01-24

Cock jokes aside, can you honestly name one reason why it's ok to throw in disparaging remarks pertaining to appearance when criticizing, say, Bannon... and it's not ok to do the same thing about a woman?

Or is this just another one of those backwards stealth actual-misogynistic ways in which we infantilize women by reinforcing the idea that we have to use kid gloves when we talk to or about them?

It's probably not valid to criticize anyone's appearancem though I'm certainly not above it, but get real.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2018-01-24

>>>Cock jokes aside, can you honestly name one reason why it's ok to throw in disparaging remarks pertaining to appearance when criticizing, say, Bannon... and it's not ok to do the same thing about a woman?

I'm not going to try to justify either one. But it's different, and we all know it.

The thing is that every conservative woman on youtube is young and attractive, even the ones you want to punch, like that NRA cunt. Laura Southern, Shoeonhead, that libertarian blonde bitch... all of them. The looks are so much a part of the package that criticizing their looks almost seems relevant.

I was watching this with the sound down. To me, she looked pretty cute until she leaned into the camera, and I thought I could lip read her saying "white people" I don't know what that was about, but it was creepy!

With all know that Steve Bannon is a bit of an outlier for being ugly (To me he looks like the bloated reanimated corpse of Seymour J. Hoffman.), but when politicians were primarily male, making fun of their appearance was part of a fine tradition of mocking the powerful. Part of what the right wing media, and now social media, has done to make the world so terrible has been to turn that tradition on its head. Molly Ivins wrote: "It is a profoundly vulgar thing to satirize the powerless." (Quoted from memory) She was talking about Rush Limbaugh.

I think that making fun of the appearance of politicians has to stop, because it's going to make it harder for women. So just don't so it.

The most sexist thing I've ever seen in politics was the wicked witch meme. Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, Nancy Pelosi, and Christine O'Donnell have all been protrayed, at one time or another, as the Margaret Hamilton withch with from the Wizard of Oz. Hopefully, that shit is over, and they're not measuring Elizabeth Warren for the hat.

SolRo - 2018-01-24

My personal barometer is whether insulting looks is an addendum or the main argument.

‘She’s stupid and wrong, and ugly’ (okay for me)

‘She’s so ugly she must be wrong’ (bad)

chumbucket - 2018-01-24

Fade edits, drama.

Spike Jonez - 2018-01-24

You could dissect her views and she'll ignore it. But call her horse faced, she won't forget it.

Hazelnut - 2018-01-24

Except that way you don't just erase her, you erase every other woman with a long face. It's the same shit that Republicans pull on Nancy Pelosi, and it's one barrier to women entering politics.
