The universe isn't a place of hope and promise. It's a set of dimensions containing meaningless particles, and everything besides that is the product of sparking meat lumps called brains. Without contact with humanity with all its hopes and dreams and ascribing of meaning to every damn thing, they're just a bunch of people struggling to survive among that which they can only deem bizarre.
