Until now I never noticed the mushrooms growing from the bread.

Probably my favourite thing from the Simpsons.
I heard this was based on an actual sandwich that one of the writers ate that did go bad over time, though it never turned purple or grew mushrooms in real life.
This wasn't even the worst example of a Simpson consuming something unhealthy in this episode.
