Hey Rocky, watch me pull a reboot outta my hat!

duck&cover - 2018-04-20

Out of his ass, more like it.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2018-04-20

That's not Reboot, Bullwinkle, that's Michael Hefferon painted blue!

snothouse - 2018-04-20

Oh good, the charm of the original writing will be replaced by "Despicable Me" humor.

Crunchy Frog - 2018-04-20

Let's see ...
Rocky's voice is spot-on.
What little I heard of Natasha's is also spot-on.
Bullwinkle's is decent, but has some serious flaws.
Boris sounds different, but is still reasonable.
I have no idea what they're going for with Fearless Leader. I don't like it. Neither evil enough, nor comical enough.

It looks like they blended plenty of ugly into the original art style. Time will tell how awful the writing is -- it looks to have a smidgen of the old wit and charm among the 3dgyness.

SolRo - 2018-04-20

Sorry, that's just some dirt on your screen

cognitivedissonance - 2018-04-20

I kinda like that they embraced the off-model tendencies of the first season Mexican animators of the original show. Totally crazy shit happened all the time during the first season.

Nice to see Gidney and Cloyd.

betabox - 2018-04-20

I think you need new speakers.

The Mothership - 2018-04-20

Boo!

SolRo - 2018-04-20

Show approval by committee of accountants in their 50s.

garcet71283 - 2018-04-20

50s?

Son, the target audience of the original show is now well into thier 70s.

SolRo - 2018-04-20

The show had a long run of reruns

cognitivedissonance - 2018-04-20

I’m not opposed, because now is the time for a kids show with Russian spies as villains.

Cena_mark - 2018-04-20

I'll give it a chance.
Of course today's Russian spies just post memes on social media.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-04-20

For real, if a running gag is Boris Badenov constantly in sock puppet flame wars on Twitter, it's worth it all.

You earned these Xenocide.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-04-20

Xenocide, that was way funnier than anything in this trailer.

Ugh - 2018-04-20

stars 4 xenocide, the trailer would sadly be right at home in a gas station carousel for birthday cards

tethercat - 2018-04-21

Five for Xenocide

Xenocide - 2018-04-20

If they can keep the original show's style of humor (bad puns, clever references, and most importantly, rapid-fire vaudevillian one-liners) I'm totally down for this.

garcet71283 - 2018-04-20

I'm concerned about the total lack of Mr. Peabody and Fractured Fairytales in the trailer. At its core, Rocky and Bullwinkle was an animated sketch comedy show.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-04-20

Mr. Peabody has had his own show for several years now. He doesn't need Moose and Squirrel.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-04-20

They probably got the rights fairly cheap. And then refused to understand the humor in the original depended on good writing. I don't understand these shows that spend a ton of money on the animation and can't come up with good writing. Is it really that hard?

cognitivedissonance - 2018-04-20

I think that of all the segments that would work best as a streaming service serial, Dudley Do-Rite has the most potential. Lemony Snicket is doing very well on Netflix, and if they had the right cast, writing and tone, it would be a great fit for that style of storytelling.

Old_Zircon - 2018-04-20

Let's get real here, nothing American has done "clever references" successfully since maybe 1995 at the latest, and that's being generous.

Xenocide - 2018-04-20

Peabody and Sherman have a show on Netflix. There's probably some rights issue preventing them from being on the new Bullwinkle.

It's too bad, the P&S show has some funny moments but it really struggles to pad out each half-hour. These characters work much better as a six-minute backup segment.

garcet71283 - 2018-04-21

That's exactly what I mean, Xenocide.

Even Rocky and Bullwinkle don't work in long doses. The rapid fire, madcap nature of the original show was key to it's pacing. 6 minutes of Moose and Squirrel, 6 minutes of Peabody / Fractured / Dudley then back to 6 minutes of Moose and Squirrel with a few miscellaneous segments tossed in between them.

threerow - 2018-04-20

At least Russian spies are relevant again.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2018-04-20

Well at least it can't be as bad as that live-action film they released back in the early 2000s.

Right?

BiggerJ - 2018-04-20

Dreamworks also did a Mr. Magoo reboot, but unexpectedly, they got excellent French animation studio (Xilam of Oggy fame) to do it.
