boring

teethsalad - 2018-05-30

i went to a green-album era weezer show and it was probably the most boring concert experience of my life

anything after pinkerton is completely disposable

badideasinaction - 2018-05-30

A guy I knew in high school is part of the Weezer version of deadheads. The stories of his trips to events and the people he meets are the most insufferably boring things ever and their wall is mostly pictures of themselves standing next to dead-eyed members of the band.

teethsalad - 2018-05-30

i remember seeing they had a weezer cruise at one point

for fuck's sake

infinite zest - 2018-05-31

A friend of mine went on a Goner Records cruise some years ago; fuck a Weezer Cruise but The Oblivians on a Boat sounds awesome to me.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-05-30

I wish I could give negative stars sometimes.

NewHeavenSockman - 2018-05-30

the aural equivalent of getting into an unmade bed at 1am and spending 5 minutes trying to find the sock that keeps digging into your back between the covers

Cena_mark - 2018-05-30

Weezer is a great band and Africa is a great song. The two together are a great combo.

simon666 - 2018-05-30

This kind of sounds like the theme song to Cheers at a few points.

Siebenstein - 2018-05-30

I don't get the hate for Weezer. I still like River's voice, this is great.

Two Jar Slave - 2018-05-30

Yeah, me neither. It's like hating the Beach Boys for not being dark and gritty enough.

infinite zest - 2018-05-31

They're an easy band to hate on because even non-Weezer fans admire Pinkerton, myself included, and that's the one that Rivers hates. And the loss of Matt Sharp was every bit as detrimental to the band's aesthetic as Kim's departure from The Pixies was. But at least with the Pixies reunion shows, Frank would still play Debaser, whereas for years Rivers went out of his way to not play El Scorcho.

But I dunno, I really liked The Green album, but stopped caring when "Beverly Hills" was on repeat ad-nauseum at the movie theatre I worked at and pretty much everywhere else too.

Two Jar Slave - 2018-05-30

Seems alright to me.

exy - 2018-05-30

Can we just agree that this is an inoffensively pointless cover?

Ugh - 2018-05-30

i agree, though i guess by that caveat it's a good cover because they made it their own

spikestoyiu - 2018-05-30

Totally on-the-nose cover of a great song. Competent and ultimately pointless.

Ugh - 2018-06-12

what the fuck, this song just hit top 100, it's like watching people i know and love tell me they think the disturbed cover of sound of silence is great (did you know it's also the default google search result now)

Mister Yuck - 2018-05-30

When I first started going out with my girlfriend I played all the covers of Toto's Africa on this site back to back while she was driving. She got so mad while laughing so hard that she cried. We're gonna see Weezer live in July so I played her this one too. She told me she's gonna make this our first dance if we get married to embarrass me. I think she's serious.

Callamon - 2018-06-01

Yep, you're fucked.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2018-06-01

Weezer
