"Congo" was a silly book.

This was a silly movie.

I love them both.

Accidie - 2018-06-13

This should have been the whole movie.

That hilariously awful attempt at a congolese accent is worth five stars.

Spoilers:

This wonderful movie ends with a gratuitous massacre of attack gorillas with a cartoon laser, during a volcanic eruption.

Was this the movie with the gorilla named Amy who could talk? I can't remember.

Lets be perfectly honest; the 90s was a great time where the early stages of adaptation of CGI and old-school filmmaking tricks worked side-by-side to push the edges of what we though could happen in films (without it being cartoonishly campy [at the time]).

Pretty much none of the effects have aged well, but insutu they were pretty groundbreaking and impressive.

Oh, you're completely right SolRo. I think in a way early/mid 90s CGI is still a thing to behold when you consider how limited the available technology was compared to now. What's really strange is that there are films that have come out in the last ten years with CGI that doesn't look much better.
