I guess that line is supposed to be an apology to the nazis for all the games they made where you kill them? Pretty funny, iD Software - ha ha.

Raggamuffin - 2018-08-15 benefit of the doubt: 90's humor for a 90's game style? Maybe there is a part where you order at a drive through and there is a zombie working the window?
I'm gonna probably play this game till my eyes bleed, by the way.

Pillager - 2018-08-15 Allow me to paraphrase Sigmund Freud:
Sometimes a Joke is just a Joke.
I hope it sells better than Wolfenstein: The New Order did...

blue vein steel - 2018-08-16 i think it's just a joke, and not even an original one. PC mocking jokes like that have been around since the 80s
|
Quad9Damage - 2018-08-17 If the usual suspects are crying about this on social media then that's funny because this is exactly what they sound like. I hear "you should say 'mortally-challenged,'" and I'm reminded of 'Minor-Attracted Person.'
But it's a fucking joke, just like in Doom 3 where the polite computer voice lectured you on Union Aerospace Corporation's monumental achievements while an Imp shoved a fireball down your throat.
|
Caminante Nocturno - 2018-08-17 It's good to see that for every one person whining about that joke, there are a good 20-odd people laughing at them for doing so.
|
poorwill - 2018-08-17 It's a bottom-of-the-barrel joke though. Like, it would be beneath Family Guy. No target is off limits if you make it actually funny.
|
BHWW - 2018-08-17 It's not a complicated joke, just making fun of megacorporations using "socially aware" language because they believe it will benefit them or as damage control for something they're responsible for, in this case UAC trying to put a positive PR spin on the demon invasion they helped bring about.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2018-08-15
Doom 2016 was very good. I have a few critiques of it tho...
1. Upgrade system. They managed to avoid adding unnecessary baggage in most places.. But massive 'AAA' bethesda owned studio cant seem to avoid adding *some* pointless clutter to their game.
2. Boss battles. They felt very 'consoley' ie. Boss following repetitive attack patterns, and featuring gameplay unlike all non-boss gameplay.
3. The look of most of levels.
Most of the Mars levels looked like any uninspired generic sci-fi shooter. They basically were total shit. And hell, looked nice, but, it was very samey, and also not very inspired. I mean its *hell* there could have been all kinds of varied wacky shit.. But there wasnt.

This game looks dope, if I was 14 I would be playing this nonstop.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2018-08-17 You wont need an expensive machine to run this. It is designed to run on xbox +ps4.. You could probably cobble together a machine that will run all curent-gen games at max for c. 600 depending what you already have (case, power supply, hard drives, peripherals, etc)

Quad9Damage - 2018-08-17 I've had the same gaming rig going on six years now. Core i7 with 30 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 760 video card. It still runs nice but is starting to show its age with current gen stuff.
I suppose all I'd really need to do is swap out the old card for a 1060 or something, but I don't know the life left on the other parts, etc. I guess I don't know shit about computers either. This was a top-reviewed machine I got off Newegg back when I had money.

Ignoring all the comments trying to take a single line of dialog and make a mountain out of a molehill...
This gameplay looks really fun and I like the grappling hook idea. I always loved logging into servers on OG Quake where the axe had a grappling hook.
|
The Mothership - 2018-08-18 Quake II Team Fortress had some wicked mods that would let you grapplehook, fly, etc. This was c. 1998, mind.
