Yeah.

I mean he's maybe too old for 2020, but he's the flagbearer.

jangbones - 2019-01-10

no one else comes close on policy and aspiration

he is also great at cutting through a lot of bullshit and delivering the right fucking message

"the wall talk is stupid, here's what we should actually do"

Space Odin - 2019-01-12

Sherrod Brown actually does come rather close. I said "rather."

Old_Zircon - 2019-01-10

We need to get this guy a Krang body so he can live forever.

If I were in a room with Bernie Sanders, I would say "Nice speech. I almost want to believe you oppose Trump, but then why did you work so damn hard to get him elected?"

Since I'm not in a room with him I'm NOT going to say that. That was 2016. All that matters now is that the whole broad Left -- centrists and progressives alike -- stick together, at least until we've kicked neo-fascism into the dustbin.

Nah. Same thing will happen in 2020 with Warren. Fuck, maybe even Bernie again. Remember all the Bawbag, Bwando, and Nikon dummies here posting all the "don't vote" videos right before the midterms?

Bernouts are already working hard to convince people that Corey Booker (or whoever Tom Perez endorses) is the devil that should never be elected even if it means A Trump twofer.

How did Sanders work 'so damn hard' to get Trump elected?

Commander Tugboat - 2019-01-10

By daring to challenge her in a primary.

And, I guess, not campaigning enough on her behalf during the month after the convention when she completely disappeared. And in the states she bypassed, like Wisconsin.

And by not using his mind-control magic to force his followers to vote for her at a higher rate that they already did (which was already at a higher proportion than Clinton-to-Obama voters in 2008).

I have a lot more respect for Bernie Sanders than for his cranky, entitled followers.

There are so many who own a piece of the 2016 disaster. A few of them had good intentions. I feel particularly sorry for James Comey, who I really thought was in the tank for Trump when he announced the investigation of Hilary, but then, I was surprised when he cleared her after just a few days.

I feel less sympathy for the mainstream media. The Apprentice was on for NINE YEARS. It was like 250 hours of TRIUMPH OF THE WILL. It's not surprising that it left an impression that 4 months of public bumbling and obvious lies could not undo. And then CNN covered his ridiculous rallies wall to wall for the ratings boost without bothering much to investigate his public past of playing everyone for suckers.

Hilary and Bernie should have formed an alliance after the nomination. She should have promised to give him a plum cabuinet post the way Obama did for her. Part of me suspects that a lack of an alliance was more Hilary's doing than Bernie's. She may have been afraid of his radical past. And that would be tragic, but maybe less tragic now that we have AOC. I'm not much of a leftist, but America needs a real viable left to balance out the spectrum so that Far Right Republicans won't be able to paint centrist Democrats as commies. A real left would bring as much stability as revolution.

Maybe wikileaks and the Russians made a Clinton-Sanders alliance impossible. If Debbie Wasserman-something gave Hillary advance knowledge of the debate questions, she was courting favor. Hilary Clinton needs help managing the policy issues like a fish needs a scuba mask. So Debbie deserves a share of the blame.

And to a lesser extent, at least as individuals, those of us who trolled right wing nuts on the internet may have played a role. Trolling is bad political strategy. The MAGAroids who used to love how Trump drove "liberals" mad with rage are now wondering why people are so angry.

What we all have in common is that none of us thought that this could ever possibly happen. By all accounts, not even Trump saw this coming.
