surprisingly entertaining and entirely predictable

1. Couldnt they have just used a cheap gyroscope.. They wanted to measure 15' ,not like tiny arc minutes or seconds..

2. Dont believe a fact proven 1000's of years ago, (and gravity also I guess?) But is ok fully trusting an advanced device with lasers and semi-conducting circuitry which relies on quantum mechanics (which is really confusing and pretty easy to doubt imo) to work.

But was that fact proven in a case made of 100% bismuth bronze or whatever I ask you

The fact that their minds can accept the concept of evidence and experiment (and quantum mechanics seemingly) and yet reject the most basic and easily verifiable physics seems like a paradox.

It reminds me of people (where most info about the mind comes from) who've had a specific area of their brain damaged, and can experience seeming impossible things.. Eg. The man can who see perfectly, but cannot recognise anyones face, he has to get his wife to wear a certain hat so he will recognize her.

I think human minds are always a bit like that even when in pristine condition. These people are just extreme examples. Lets observe them and make a conscious effort to try and not be like that, to be rational.
It's like in order to not be racist you have to assume that everyone (yourself included) is always at least a little subconsciously racist, and it takes conscious effort to account for it.

This is the thing. Any conspiracy theory like this is usually an ego defence mechanism. Accepting that you are a small, scared, blob of meat and you cannot even hope to comprehend a fraction of the systems that keep you alive is kind of traumatic. Believing that you have special knowledge and insight lets you assert yourself against this vast world. See also: Social Media.

However it means you can't reject modern tools or take the "fucking magnets how do they work" approach. That generally doesn't allow one to pretend you have special insight or understanding.

So you get shit like this. They have to believe in their own rationality and yet they cannot accept the results of their own observations otherwise it's back to being helpless dying meat.

It's all part of the deliberate flaws the aliens programmed into our genome millions of years ago as a fail safe to keep us from ever being a potential disruption to the galactic hegemony.
