My brother-in-law sent me a podcast episode from "Conservative American University" which is like a podcast version of this. The specific episode he sent wasn't too bad, it was an interview with some kind of pro-religion version of Richard Dawkins, but the rest of the catalogue has some absurd shit like "we should send the military to South Africa to stop the white genocide".

Pretty much anything on social media with the term "university" is a stupid right-wing front. It's weird that they both denigrate the academy as a place of lefty elite privilege while still appropriating the term to try to gain some vague prestige.

I actually like a lot of their videos. Christina Hoff Sommers especially is quite good. Also Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Dave Rubin are both great speakers. Dennis Prager himself is a pseudo intellectual and I find him to be vacuous in most of his arguments, which is unfortunate because his name is on the thing.

The worst video they've made is on the Vietnam War, though, insisting we could have won that if it hadn't been for liberals.

It's not "all conservatives". It's Donald Trump, who may not be a conservative at all. This is not politics as usual we're seeing here. This is the unintended consequences of fifty years of Republicans cynically using racist dog whistles to win elections, which is morally objectionable, but not white supremacism. It worked for a long time, but in 2016, a Reality TV star entered a large field of uninspiring Republican candidates. Smash cut to three years later, the dogs are running the kennel.

Trumpism is not conservatism, but as Paul Ryan demonstrated, if you cut taxes and regulations on business and conservatives will go along with almost anything, even as they make it look painful. Trumism is not Naziism, but what Charlottesville demonstrated is that Trump doesn't want to offend Nazis. Considering who Trump has been willing to throw under the bus. it's pretty striking.

If what I am about to tell you is true, Trumpism is actually worse than Naziism.

What if, over the next 100 years, the effects of climate change dwarf World War 2 and the Holocaust in terms of suffering, death, and global devastation? I'm not saying that's going to happen, I'm saying that based on the science as I understand it, it's not far fetched. If 10 times as many people die, is it going to matter that they weren't forced into gas chambers? Or is it only going to matter how dead they are?

Brawndo is correct about the cherry picking in this video, but this is not intellectual laziness, it's scapegoating. It's PROPAGANDA. Liberals are the new Jews, the all-purpose villains of Trumpism. We are weak as indiviuals, yet we control everything through the Deep State and our shills in Hollywood. You can't get to a unified political theory of everything through anecdotes, no matter how many anecdotes you pile on top of each other, but there's a whole industry devoted to validating this kind of thinking. People who think this way love to have their thinking validating. These are some really dumb people. Dumber than Brawndo, who, to his credit, was not fooled.

I know of no plans to force Democrats into gas chambers. Instead they want to troll us to death, to make our heads explode, to drain our life force through our delicious liberal tears. Trolling is certainly more benign than genocide, but it's far from benign. It seems like the more innocent a subject is, the quicker the discussion devolves into hurling insults. I saw a YouTube discussion of an old sixties TV show, "My Favorite Martian" devolve into generational insults by the first post.

Trumpism is very much a cult of personality. There's no real policy dogma. The most narcissistic man in the history of reality television basically does what he wants, and what he wants is whatever will get a big reaction at those rallies that he pretty much lives for. The shutdown over the wall proved that Trump will follow a good applause line over the edge of the earth, and into the gates of hell, for a heavenly cause.

The only counterargument I want to throw out is that liberal media and culture has plenty of hatemongering these days to the point of invalidating many of its better points. There was a recent article about the statistic that liberals are three times more likely to end friendships with conservatives than the other way around. And that is a thing. It takes two to tango in terms of propaganda and hate.

Conservatives went with Trump but it's more like having an asshole boss that makes you feel grateful you're employed and maybe slightly increases your paycheck just enough for you to not pray for something terrible to happen in the smelting area. If that makes any sense.

There is no equivalence between "Liberals are more likely to end friendships based on political views" and "We are appointing white nationalists to the highest levels of government and deliberately targeting minority children with pain and death to appease the hatred and fear we've stoked of their people". To call both "hatemongering" is the worst kind of false equivalence. Fox News is openly running shows saying white people need to stop minorities from gaining political power or outbreeding them or it'll be the end of civilization. This is not at all like people on the left saying "don't hang out with racists".

And I don't give the idea that Trump is tolerated for his economic benefits even a half a drop of credence. The deficit is exploding but they don't care, and conservatives believe that Obama dragged us into recession while Trump rescued us, because of their social views. Trump never had a plan or followed through on one to help regular conservative voters. What he did, was start a campaign by calling Mexican immigrants rapists, lied consistently about how Democrats were criminals, called women dumb bimbos you should assault freely, and treated Muslims like dangerous rodents. And that was enough to convince people who liked what they heard to just believe he's a smart businessman, no matter what the actual facts are.
