Seems like something my mom would do.

I see in the reaction to this video what must have been the same mentality of the crowds that would show up to watch and be entertained by public executions. In them is an rabid vindictiveness for the violation of social rules or norms. In their minds, there is no room for shades of gray or proportional response -- just the righteous certainty that someone is deserving of punishment. If it's a severe and gruesome punishment, all the better. Let the wicked among us get their due reward.

Part and parcel with this sentiment is the idea that the executioner and his axe bear no culpability, nor does the authority that decrees an execution. They are the instruments of Order, and they are intrinsically Good.

And so we note that the woman is *disrespectful* and *disobeys orders* and *physically resisted authority*. And so, like a witch unto the flames, and a belt unto a child that sasses, let punishment be meted unto this woman, and let the anguished cries of this sinner be music unto our ears.

Being sassy about signing an $80 ticket: arrest and imprisonment.
Driving away and then pulling over again when the officer pursued: threat of death with a loaded handgun.
Flailing your old lady limbs around: electrocution of your body, potentially fatal.

The fact that this is deemed not just appropriate, but *humorous*, is a product of the darkest and most terrifying part of the human mind. And so, in the PoE way, five stars for evil.

what price, order?

SixDigitDebt - 2019-08-04

Just follow the fucking reasonably legislated and applied laws; what's so hard to figure out about that?

Spike Jonez - 2019-08-04

Show me some reasonable laws that aren't cash grabs for local law enforcement.

I'm honestly worried that I'll completely ruin my life at some point because I lose my temper for like 27 seconds. I feel like there used to be room for people to fuck up, especially when the police are concerned. Now any negative interaction with the police absolutely needs to end up with the police WINNING otherwise it's like the world would end.

You watch shows from the 70s and people fucking ran away from the cops and got away with petty theft AFTER getting caught. I'm not saying you shouldn't be punished for even petty theft, but at some point the State got the idea that LOSING even once is completely unacceptable.

It's the same mentality that gets the IRS to repo your shit if you owe like 10$ in taxes. I wish they were that forceful when policing corporations and their own agents, but not against the public.

If she had been Black, she would be dead now.

Without a doubt.

Cop's a jackass. Fuck him.

Anagramother - 2019-08-05

Her sense of entitlement every step along the way is annoying. I'm not sure why the cop couldn't just log it into the system and go to her house and why it has to be a immediate chase and detainment.

casualcollapse - 2019-08-05

For Worldstar obviously. Who the hell knows what these cops were thinking
