Featuring heartwarming quotes like "According to court documents, a team of experts who inspected the ride after Caleb's death found “physical evidence that indicated that other rafts had gone airborne and collided with the overhead hoops and netting before the fatality.” "

I think the most remarkable element of this story was that the executives in charge *actually* got in trouble, got fines + jail time.
I'm guessing thats cus it was a state representatives' son who was killed.

SolRo - 2019-08-14

That and the company wasn’t gigantic.

Bezos could kill a couple politicians kids and get off with a fine

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2019-08-14

They didn't.

In February, a judge dismissed the charges against Henry and Schooley. The water park is now closed, and the slide has been demolished.

No fines, no jailtime.

There was a large settlement in 2017.

There were criminal charges in 2018, dismissed in 2019 because a film shown to the grand jury was actually a fiction film, and not a documentary. This sounds like bullshit to me.

The least consequences we can hope for as a result of decapitating the ten year old son of a state representative (and seriously injuring two of his daughters) is some fucking regulations.

cognitivedissonance - 2019-08-16

Luckily, nobody of future value was lost.

NewHeavenSockman - 2019-08-14

I AIN'T AFRAID OF NO WATERSLIDE

jangbones - 2019-08-14

I am, I am definitely afraid of this particular water slide.

Stopheles - 2019-08-14

That slow pan over the bloody water left in the slide literally made me shudder.

casualcollapse - 2019-08-17

I missed that.. Here we go again

casualcollapse - 2019-08-17

Oh fuck you are right.. That's pretty horrible.

Maggot Brain - 2019-08-14

This is sad and all but all these names are lächerlichsind.

SolRo - 2019-08-14

The pathetic thing is is that even with the airborne tendency of this ride it could have been made at least non-lethal if a plexiglass cover was used in that area instead of (cheap) netting, and some simple roll hoops designed into the rafts.

Anaxagoras - 2019-08-15

You know, that's a good point.

What the actual fuck, waterslide designer?

badideasinaction - 2019-08-15

Or making that part a tube.

I've been on a ride like that - it bleeds off most of the speed on the first drop uses a conveyor belt to send you over the bump at a controlled speed, unlike hoping for the randomness of water and variance of bodyweight to do the job. There's easy ways to make this safer.

Marlon Brawndo - 2019-08-16

Yeah, a tube would have made waaaay more sense.

This thing is like the real life version of Homer's trampoline.

Old_Zircon - 2019-08-15

Needs "hubris" tag.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2019-08-15

Also needs a Longmont Potion Castle tag.

casualcollapse - 2019-08-17

The bigger taller faster guy appears to be on meth or stimutacs at least.. You see the way he was bouncing in his shoes?

casualcollapse - 2019-08-17

Schlitterbahn started in Texas, go Texas, oh wait, don't go Texas, you will decapitate yourself
