I'm pretty certain 13-year-old me had this book or another book by Tim Allen, can't remember, I would go mad buying books from the room in the library where they sold them by the bag. You can bet your ass I stuff those bags as full as I could.
13 year old me got George Carlin's Brain Droppings. In the intro he talked about how unlike most comedians, he wasn't going to just repackage material from his stage routine into book form - this was all new material specifically written for the book and separate from his standup performances.
A year later I saw him perform live and at least 1/3 of the bits he did were almost word for word identical to bits in the book.
I read this on a month-long camping road trip in college. we stopped at a library that was having a used book sale ('cause no TV for a month, in the days before smart phones). I got this and Silence of the Lambs.
