Following this story has really immersed me in denialist non-arguments. I don't really understand the science, but I know that criticizing Greta Thunberg's parents, or a Netflix documentary, or talking about how everyone used to be talking about the coming ice age (I remember none of that), or Al Gore's private jet, is a critique of the science. The discouraging thing about this is that there's only one argument for the science, but the non-arguments against it are apparently infinite and growing.
When some asshole on FOX News says mean shit about Ms. Thunberg, remember this is a tactic they've been using forever.
Say something shitty about someone the left admires then let them beat themselves against a brick wall trying to get you to apologize rather than discussing the actual issue.
Oddly enough, the right's playbook doesn't seem to be working anymore. Reasonable people now seem to jump to "Fuck those guys, now how do we bypass/defeat them?" It doesn't mean the reasonable people actually succeed in bypassing or defeating them, but it's a nice change of pace from
