Some people think protests should be quiet polite affairs that don't inconvenience anyone and take place after regular working hours.
That's because they want to be able to ignore them.
Fuck those people.

simon666 - 2020-06-10 Protests are means, so they should be whatever is needed to achieve their end. If that means a given protest needs to be a "quiet, polite affair" then so be it. If it needs to be more confrontational, including the exercise of direct action and civil disobedience, then so be it.
One need not want to ignore a protest or a cause to want a given protest to be quiet and polite.
And I think this is in part Ms. Jones's point.
Ultimately, assuming a legitimate moral cause, the means of a protest movement, as opposed to a single protest, should evolve depending on how well the protest is motivating people to its cause, galvanizing support, and instituting or preventing the changes sought.
