It's not oratory, it's the truth. Here's what I saw, though, as a vaginally challenged penile-American, what I saw isn't necessarily what matters. AOC spoke about the personal experience of women on the floor of Congress, and she did it with precision. 6 for style. 11 for substance.

For me, there were two highlights.

1) She compared her experience as a bartender with her experience as a congresswoman. That made it personal, but also about every woman. Bonus points for defiantly referencing what GOP assholes like to give her shit about.

2) Yoho hid behind his wife and daughters. AOC claimed that's what angered her, and then she DEFENDED Yoho's wives and daughters. "You're giving other men permission to talk to them like that." She made it about THEM. Rhetorically, that was a master stroke. Absolute pwnage. I almost feel sorry for the miserable piece of shit.

i've been trying to tamp down my politics posting to keep my blood pressure down, but the silence and lack of condemnation on the committee votes from otherwise enthusiastic cheerleaders of the dem side has got me seething

My favorite development of the week is Biden promising to prosecute "arsonists and anarchists" that are protesting, that guy sure has his finger on the pulse of America.

But yeah, the platform committee overwhelmingly voting down marijuana decrim and also rejectecting Medicare For All in the middle of the pandemic, on a non-binding, purely symbolic platform vote, is just stunningly tone deaf even from the party that is notorious for that.

I find that I'm delighted that defunding the police and Medicare for all have made it into the national conversation without being on the ballot. REPUBLICANS ARE BACKING BIDEN. I just read an essay endorsing Biden by George Will. This may be just what we need. Another partisan LURCH to the left will just keep things angry and fucked up. Anyway, Bidens probably going to die, and leave us with a black woman for president.
