My dad puts me to shame snowboarding, I tried it once, did a face plant, and went promptly back to skiing

As a Canadian snowboarder circa the late 80's, I can say skiers were downright hostile to us. They would spit and throw stuff from the chairlifts, direct (usually homophobic) slurs at you and one guy even tried to stick me with a ski pole from the lift. I still hate skiers to this day as a result.

As a reasonably expert skier, my only complaint about snowboarders is that when noob boarders start a run that is too hard for them, the default way to get down is to side-slip, which totally ruins any powder or snow accumulation, usually in the steepest part (cuz that's where they get scared), exposing all the rocks and shit. I mean skiers kinda do it too, but skiers can side-step instead of side-slip and don't cause as much damage I think.
For expert boarders and noobs who know where to go I have no issues.
In modern times afaik the only ski resort that still bans snowboarders is Alta in Salt Lake City. I've skied there and it's awesome, and it's kinda dumb that they ban snowboarders, but I respect the stubbornness. The runs are better at Snowbird just down the road anyways.
