I know Fox as the tv channel that had the Simpsons and Star Trek TNG. If those shows ever got 'political', they took a fairly normal / reasonable view.
But yet everyone on Fox news seems to *really* want to live in a lawless wasteland ruled over by a lord humongous.
That always struck me as odd.
Is is that Fox has always taken a metric driven approach to what they show. If it has good ratings, show it, and the kind of crazy shit they have on fox news is simply just popular in the US?

Meerkat - 2020-09-24 No, it's that Fox News was created as a "balance" to "liberal media"; "liberal" meaning reporting "facts" about "reality".
As a "balance" Fox News must take the opposite view to "liberal media", which means they act more as a propaganda network for a Republican party that really needs the unwashed masses to vote against their own best interests to stay in power.
An unfortunate side-effect of this is when "liberal" media starts telling people how they need to act to deal with a disaster, Fox News must "balance" that by telling people only faggots and sissy cucks act that way and there isn't really a disaster at all.
