I didn't like his take on the Disco Demolition

I'm not sure what you mean, but I know there's a big disconnect in how the anti disco backlash is perceived. I was 21, growing up in an overwhelmingly white suburb, and the racist and homophobic aspects of the disco backlash eluded me. If you weren't plugged into a real city, disco was John Travolta and the Bee Gees. Besides Donna Summer and the cop from the Village People, black artists were heard but not seen. The racist dimension of the backlash flew under my radar, but when I was 21, my radar was not very good.

This was the Gamergate of my generation, and it was stupid. We were rockers, and we felt that disco was a threat to our identity. Like the gamer kids, our "identity" was bullshit... or, to be kinder, still under construction. Our rocker identity was a placeholder.

That's what I mean, he just made it seem like good fun for hooligans.
