I have never seen this commercial or been in a Kroger, who I guess aren't a New England grocery chain. Even so, five stars. POE-Red levels of weirdness achieved here.

Kroger is the Walmart of grocery stores.

When I lived in Texas my preferred grocery store was Kroger (the options weren't great, the only "better" one was a Whole Foods which was crazy expensive and much further to drive). Mostly I liked that they had Fage brand yogurt which is better than anything I can find in Canada.

When shopping, the intercom would periodically come on with a cheery voice "Attention Store Team! It's time for our freshness checks!"x2, and none of the staff would react at all. It was clearly just to give the impression that "freshness" was being managed for the customers.
